A Bite Of China
''A Bite of China'' () is a Chinese documentary television series on the history and traditions of food, dining, and cooking in China directed by Chen Xiaoqing (), narrated by Li Lihong () with original music composed by Roc Chen (). It first aired 14 May 2012 on China Central Television and quickly gained high ratings and widespread popularity. The seven-episode documentary series, which began filming in March 2011, introduces the history and story behind foods of various kinds in more than 60 locations in mainland China, Macau and Hong Kong. The documentary has also been actively encouraged as a means of introducing Chinese food culture to those unfamiliar with local cuisine. Various notable chefs such as Shen Hongfei and Chua Lam were consultants on the project. Shangri-La County
Shangri-La (, Tibetan: Gyalthang) is a county-level city in Northwestern Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China and is the location of the seat of the Dêqên Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, bordering Sichuan to the northwest, north, and east. Chagan Lake (China)
Chagan Lake () is a lake in Jilin, China. The name "Chagan" is from Mongolian (, transliteration : , Cyrillic mongolian : , transliteration MNS : ), meaning ''white / pure lake'' (see also Chagan River re. another toponym including the Mongolian adjective ''tsagaan''). It is often referred to as the Sacred Lake or Holy Water Lake () by local people. The lake is known for its traditional winter fishing, featuring a technique which dates back to prehistoric times. Luosifen
Luosifen () is a Chinese noodle soup and specialty of Liuzhou, Guangxi. The dish consists of rice noodles boiled and served in a soup. The stock that forms the soup is made by stewing river snails and pork bones for several hours with black cardamom, fennel seed, dried tangerine peel, cassia bark, cloves, white pepper, bay leaf, licorice root, sand ginger, and star anise. It usually does not contain snail meat, but it is instead served with pickled bamboo shoot, pickled green beans, shredded wood ear, fu zhu, fresh green vegetables, peanuts, and chili oil added to the soup. Diners can also add chili, green onions, white vinegar, and green peppers to suit their taste. The dish is well known for its strong smell, which comes from the pickled bamboo shoots.
