2022 Little League World Series
The 2022 Little League World Series was a youth baseball tournament which took place from August 17 to August 28 at the Little League Baseball, Little League headquarters complex in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Ten teams from the United States and ten teams from other countries competed in the 75th edition of the Little League World Series (LLWS). Honolulu Little League of Honolulu, Hawaii, defeated Pabao Little League of Willemstad, Curaçao, in the championship game by a 13–3 score; the game ended in four innings due to the Mercy rule#Baseball and softball, run rule. This was the first LLWS with a 20-team format. International teams returned to the tournament after the edition was held only with teams based in the United States, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Little League World Series (Midwest Region)
The Midwest Region is one of ten United States regions that currently send teams to the Little League World Series, the largest youth baseball competition in the world. The region's participation in the LLWS dates back to 1957, when it was known as the Central Region. However, when the LLWS was expanded in 2001 from eight teams (four U.S. teams and four "International" teams from the rest of the world) to 16 teams (eight U.S. and eight International), the Central Region was split into the Midwest and Great Lakes Regions. Starting in 2022, 8 teams will be represented at the Midwest regional with the addition of Wisconsin. Little League World Series In Canada
Little League Baseball has been played in Canada since 1951. Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and Vancouver, British Columbia were the first leagues outside the United States. Approximately 500 leagues now operate in Canada, making it the second-largest country in Little League participation. In 1952, Montreal, Quebec was the first foreign entry in the Little League World Series. In 1953, Little Mountain Little League of Vancouver advanced to the World Series as representative of the Western Region. Hollidaysburg is a borough in and the county seat of Blair County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The Mid-Atlantic Region is one of ten United States regions that currently sends teams to the Little League World Series, the largest youth baseball tournament in the world. The Australia Region of Little League Baseball is a region designated for the Little League World Series. The division was founded in 2013 when Little League officially separated Australia from the Asia-Pacific region.
