Archery World Cup
The Archery World Cup is a competition, started in 2006, organized by the World Archery Federation, where the archers compete in four stages in four countries and the best eight archers of each category (from 2010, four archers during 2006-09) advance to an additional stage to contest the Archery World Cup Final. This form of competition was introduced following the success of the 2003 World Archery Championships in New York and the 2004 Summer Olympics with the intent of making the sport more popular and attractive to spectators, with the matches being held in 'spectacular' locations and the final matches being broadcast online. It has received plaudits for its innovative approach to the sport, raising its profile and reach. Mete Gazoz (born 8 June 1999 in Istanbul) is a Turkish recurve archer. He won the gold medal in the men's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. He also represented Turkey at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sports career Gazoz began with Archery in 2010. The right-handed archer made his international debut in 2013. He won the silver medal in the Recurve Junior Men Team event at the 2013 World Archery Youth Championships in Wuxi, China. Steve Wijler (born 19 September 1996) is a Dutch archer competing in men's recurve events. He won the bronze medal in the men's individual recurve event at the 2017 World Archery Championships held in Mexico City, Mexico. In 2021, Wijler and Gabriela Schloesser won the silver medal in the mixed team event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Kim Woo-jin (Hangul: 김우진; or ; born June 20, 1992) is a South Korean archer specializing in recurve archery. He first held the world number one ranking ranking in 2011. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he set a world record in men's individual recurve archery and received a gold medal as a member of the South Korean men's archery team. He is a three-time world champion in the men's individual recurve event at the World Archery Championships. He is right-handed, and uses arrows and a draw weight of .
