2018 Boston Pizza Cup
The 2018 Boston Pizza Cup was held 31 January to 4 February at the Grant Fuhr Arena in Spruce Grove, Alberta. The winning Brendan Bottcher rink represented Alberta at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier in Regina, Saskatchewan. The semifinal and final games were broadcast on Sportsnet One. Qualification Method Twelve teams qualified for the provincial tournament through several methods. Spruce Grove, Alberta
Spruce Grove is a city that is west of Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. The city is adjacent to the Town of Stony Plain and is surrounded by Parkland County. CCA Rankings
The Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) is a point system used by Curling Canada to rank men's and women's curling teams across Canada. They are determined through points earned in various curling bonspiels held worldwide throughout the season. CTRS points are the basis of the World Curling Tour's Order of Merit and are also used as criteria in identifying teams that qualify for the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Beginning in 2018, the top two CTRS teams that do not otherwise qualify for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts or Tim Hortons Brier will earn the right to compete in a play-in game for a wildcard berth in those tournaments. Matthew McDonald (born August 11, 1958) is an American former professional tennis player. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, McDonald won two ACC team championships with North Carolina State University and was an ITA All-American in 1980. He is a member of the North Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame. During the early 1980s he competed in professional tennis, featuring in the main draw of four Grand Prix events. Adam Enright
Adam Enright (born November 16, 1983, in Rosalind, Alberta) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. He is a former alternate for Kevin Martin's rink with whom he won a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics as well as wins at the 2008 Tim Hortons Brier and the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship. Currently, Enright plays third for Kurt Balderston's rink. Career In 2002, Enright won the Alberta Junior Championship as the third for Justin Jacobsen. The team finished with a 6–6 record at the 2002 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Since juniors, Enright has played for such skips as Chris Schille, Charley Thomas and Mark Johnson. 2017 Tim Hortons Brier
The 2017 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship, was held from March 4–12, 2017 at the Mile One Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. This marked the second time the Brier was hosted by St. John's, the first being the 1972 Macdonald Brier. Newfoundland and Labrador won the Brier 7–6 in the final against Team Canada, giving skip Brad Gushue his first Brier title. With the win, the Gushue rink earned the right to represent Canada at the 2017 Ford World Men's Curling Championship held from April 1–9, 2017 at Northlands Coliseum in Edmonton, Alberta. Jeremy Harty (born May 22, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. He currently plays third for Team Aaron Sluchinski. Career Harty competed in the 2016 Alberta Junior Curling Championships with his team of Kyler Kleibrink, Joel Berger and Gregg Hamilton. The team went undefeated until the final where they lost to the Karsten Sturmay rink 7–4. The next season, the team aged out of juniors and competed in their first provincial championship. In the triple knockout format of the 2017 Boston Pizza Cup, the team finished 3–3, being knocked out by eventual runner-up Ted Appelman. Kevin Park
Kevin Park (born September 2, 1964 in Hythe, Alberta) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. Career Early career Park was a two time provincial junior champion in his native Alberta, winning in 1983 and 1984. Park played third for Kevin Martin from 1990 to 1995. During this time, he won the Brier in 1991 and a silver medal at the World Curling Championships. He also played for Canada at the 1992 Winter Olympics where curling was a demonstration sport - the team finished fourth.
