The 2017 F4 Chinese Championship (Shell Cup FIA F4 Chinese Championship) was the third season of the F4 Chinese Championship. It began on 22 April at the Zhuhai International Circuit and concluded on 29 October at the new Ningbo International Circuit, after seven triple-header rounds, five of them co-hosted with the China Formula Grand Prix championship, and the remaining two being run as a support for the Chinese Touring Car Championship and, in Ningbo, for the World Touring Car Championship. F4 Chinese Championship
F4 Chinese Championship () is a racing series regulated according to FIA Formula 4. The inaugural season was the 2015–16 edition. History Gerhard Berger and the FIA Singleseater Commission launched the FIA Formula 4 in March 2013. The goal of Formula 4 is to make the ladder to Formula 1 more transparent. It involves sporting and technical regulations and regulates costs. Cars competing in this category are not allowed to cost more than €30,000. A single season in a Formula 4 may not exceed €100,000. The Spanish F4 is planned to be the one of the second phase Formula 4 championships. The first phase championships was the Italian F4 Championship and the Formula 4 Sudamericana, which started in 2014. Hon Chio Leong
Hon Chio Leong (, born 12 September 2001), also known as Charles Leong, is a racing driver from Macau. He is the only local driver to win the Macau Grand Prix twice, albeit in Formula 4 machinery. He currently competes in the China Formula 4 Championship as a guest driver, having previously competed in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. He has participated in his home race four times, winning both the COVID-impacted 2020 edition and 2021 edition for Formula 4 machinery. Charles Leong prepared for the 2021 Macau Grand Prix by competing as a guest driver in four FIA F4 China Championship races at the Zhuhai International Circuit held from 24 to 25 October. The Shanghai International Circuit () is a motorsport race track, situated in the Jiading District, Shanghai. The circuit is best known as the venue for the annual Chinese Grand Prix which was hosted from 2004 to 2019 and was scheduled again from 2024 onwards, but its race was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
