2012 European Universities Games
The 2012 European Universities Games, were the first European Universities Games, hosted by Córdoba, Spain between July 13 and 23, 2012. Bid selection The 1st edition of EUG was attributed by EUSA in March 2010 during the Executive Committee meeting in Vilnius. Other candidates were also Lisbon, Portugal and Łódź, Poland. European University Sports Association
European University Sports Association (EUSA) is an umbrella non-governmental ( NGO) non-profit organisation, working in the field of university sport in Europe. It links national university sport federations, universities, teams, individual competitors, volunteers and other partners in over 40 countries throughout Europe. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, EUSA suspended the universities from Russia and Belarus and the representatives of the National University Sports Associations from Russia and Belarus from all EUSA events, blocked the organization of EUSA events in Russia and Belarus, and will not call upon the Members of EUSA Committees, Commissions, and Working Groups from Russia and Belarus for future EUSA meetings and activities. 2016 European Universities Games
The 2016 European University Games, also known as 2016 European Universiade, was the third biannual European Universities Games (EUG), the largest European multisport event, with 4800 participants from 403 universities in 41 countries. The event took place in the Croatian cities of Zagreb and Rijeka between 13 and 25 July 2016, and was organised by European University Sports Association (EUSA) and Croatian Academic Sport Federation (CASF) with the cooperation of University of Zagreb, University of Rijeka, City of Rijeka, City of Zagreb and Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (Croatia).
