2024 Chilean Primera División
The 2024 Chilean Primera División, known as Campeonato Itaú 2024 for sponsorship purposes, is the 94th season of the Chilean Primera División, Chile's top-flight football league. The season began on 16 February 2024. Huachipato are the defending champions. Teams 16 teams take part in the league in this season: the top 14 teams from the 2023 tournament, plus the 2023 Primera B champions Cobreloa and the winners of the promotion play-off Deportes Iquique. Cobreloa secured promotion to the top tier after eight years on 15 October 2023, winning the Primera B tournament with a 2–1 over Rangers, whilst Deportes Iquique sealed their promotion after three seasons on 10 December 2023 by defeating Santiago Wanderers in the promotion play-off finals. The promoted teams replaced Curicó Unido and Magallanes, who were relegated to Primera B at the end of the 2023 season. Chilean Primera División
The Chilean Primera División (English: First Division) is the top-tier league of the Chilean football league system. It is organized by the ''Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, ANFP''. The league is known as the Campeonato AFP PlanVital for sponsorship reasons. Format As of the 2018 season, 16 teams compete in the league, playing against each other two times, home and away. Relegation and promotion Currently, the two teams with the worst scores in the season, are relegated to Primera B, and replaced by the Champions and Runners-up of this Division. Everton De Viña Del Mar
Everton de Viña del Mar is a Chilean football club based in the city of Viña del Mar. The club was founded 24 June 1909 after a group of Anglo-Chilean teenagers formed a football club and named it after the English team Everton who had recently completed a pioneering tour of South America. The club's nickname is "Ruleteros" or the roulette players in English, after Viña del Mar's status as a gambling resort. Estadio Zorros Del Desierto
Estadio Municipal "Zorros del Desierto" de Calama ( ) is a football stadium in Calama, Chile. It is the home field of the Cobreloa football team and sometimes used by Chile national football team to served as home ground. Built in 1952 by the Abaroa family to provide sports facilities for the city, it was demolished in 2013 and opened in 2015, it replaced the old Estadio Municipal de Calama. The stadium seats 12,346 people and includes zones for disabled people. The Stadium was built to FIFA Standards and logistics. Calama, Chile
Calama is a city and commune in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. It is the capital of El Loa Province, part of the Antofagasta Region. Calama is one of the driest cities in the world with average annual precipitation of just . The River Loa, Chile's longest, flows through the city. Calama has a population of 147,886 (2012 census). Estadio Bicentenario De La Florida
Estadio Bicentenario Municipal de La Florida is a multi-purpose stadium, located in La Florida, in eastern Santiago, Chile. It is the home stadium of Chilean football team Audax Italiano. The stadium was built in 1986 and rebuilt in 2008. The stadium also hosts a variety of events such as summer theatre festivals and music concerts, such as the KISS concert in early 2009. Faith No More performed at the stadium on October 30, 2009 as part of their The Second Coming Tour. The stadium has also been used for concerts by System of a Down, Primus, Rage Against the Machine, The Mars Volta, The Black Eyed Peas, Green Day, Rammstein, and Dua Lipa among others. Deportes Magallanes is a Chilean Football team based in San Bernardo, Chile. They will play in the Primera División de Chile starting from 2023 after winning the 2022 Primera B championship. The club was founded on October 27, 1897 with the name Atlético Escuela Normal F.C.. In 1933 they became the first national champions of Chile. They won a hat trick of titles in the formative years of Chilean football (1933, 1934 and 1935) but their last major title came in 1938. Curicó Unido is a football club based in Curicó, Maule Region, Chile. They currently play in the Primera División, the first level of the Chilean football system. They are currently managed by Damián Muñoz. History Curicó Unido was founded on 26 February 1973, with ''Edmundo Rojas'' as the first President of the club. The 2023 Primera B de Chile, also known as Campeonato Ascenso Betsson 2023 for sponsorship purposes, is the 69th season of the Primera B de Chile, Chile's second-tier football league. The fixture for the season was announced on 11 January 2023, with the competition starting on 10 February and ending in November 2023. Format The 16 participating teams will play each other in a double round-robin tournament (once at home and once away) for a total of 30 matches, with the top team at the end of the 30 rounds winning the championship as well as promotion to the Campeonato Nacional for the following season. The play-off tournament to decide the second promoted team (''Liguilla'') will be expanded from five to seven teams, which will be the ones placing from second to eighth place, and the league runners-up will receive a bye to the semi-finals.
