2022 Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2022 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario was held April 7 to 10, 2022 at the Thornhill Club in Thornhill, Ontario. The event was originally going to be held from January 5 to 9 2022, but on January 3, following new COVID-19 regulations implemented by the province, CurlON decided to suspend the event. The winning team would have represented Ontario at the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to be held January 28 to February 6 2022. On January 7, CurlON announced that Team Rachel Homan would represent Ontario at the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, unless Homan is chosen to represent Canada in mixed doubles at the 2022 Winter Olympics, with a plan to hold the provincial championship in April 2022. Thornhill, Ontario
Thornhill is a suburban district in the Regional Municipality of York in Ontario, Canada, split between the City of Vaughan (its western portion) and the City of Markham (its eastern portion), with Yonge Street forming the municipal boundary. CurlON
CurlON (formerly the Ontario Curling Association) is the governing body of curling in Southern Ontario. Northern Ontario is governed by the Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA). The CurlON sends a team to represent Team Ontario at all major Canadian Championships. The NOCA sends a separate team to all of these events. CurlON was founded in 1875. Katelyn Wasylkiw
Katelyn Wasylkiw (; born 1993) is a Canadian curler from Kleinburg, Ontario. Career In 2010, she was third on Chantal Duhaime's team, before becoming lead on Caitlin Romain's team in 2011 and then lead on Jamie Sinclair's team in 2012. Then third on Jaimee Gardner's team in 2013, second on Jacqueline Harrison's team in 2014 and then second on Brenda Holloway's team in 2016. From 2017–present she has been skip of Team Wasylkiw which consists of her sister Lauren Wasylkiw as third, Stephanie Thompson as second and Erin Way, formerly Katrina Sale as lead. The team came runner-up in the Listowel Women's Classic in 2017, losing to Cathy Auld's team. Susan Froud
Susan Froud (born March 31, 1970 in Newmarket, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Loretto, Ontario. Career Froud won a provincial university championship with the University of Waterloo in 1996. Froud played in the inaugural Canada Cup of Curling in 2003, playing second for the Marilyn Bodogh rink. Bodogh did not play in the event, so the team was skipped by Penny Shantz. The team finished the event with a 1–3 record, missing the playoffs. Froud played in the Canada Cup again in 2005, playing second for Anne Merklinger the team finished first in their pool with a 4–1 record, but lost both of their playoff games, settling for third place. During her World Curling Tour career, Froud played for several skips, including Merklinger, Janet McGhee, Jacqueline Harrison and Susan McKnight. Lauren Mann
Lauren Mann (born January 27, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Aylmer, Quebec. She currently skips her own team out of Ottawa, Ontario. Career As a junior curler, Mann was the 2002 Ontario Winter Games championship playing third for Laura Payne, and won a silver medal for Ontario at the 2003 Canada Winter Games. Also in 2003, she won the Ontario Junior Mixed Championship playing third for Chris Gardner. In 2005, she lost in the final of the Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships to Erin Morrissey. She was also the runner-up in 2006, losing to Lisa Farnell. In 2014, Mann moved to Quebec and entered the 2015 Quebec Scotties Tournament of Hearts with teammates Amelie Blais, Brittany O'Rourke and Anne-Marie Filteau. She would win the event after posting an 8–2 round robin record, and defeating Roxane Perron in the final. Danielle Inglis
Danielle Inglis (born February 26, 1988) is a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler from Whitby, Ontario. She currently Skip (curling), skips her own team. Career Juniors As a junior curler, Inglis and her Burlington Curling Club rink of Chantal Lalonde, Tracy O'Leary and Pam Feldkamp won the 2008 Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships, upsetting the Rachel Homan rink in the final. The team represented Ontario at the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, finishing with a 6-6 record, out of the playoffs. Women's After juniors, Inglis joined the Hollie Nicol rink, playing third. Inglis and Nicol added Kirsten Wall as skip in 2010, bumping Inglis to second on the team, which also added Jill Brothers at lead. Jacqueline Harrison
Jacqueline Harrison (born July 28, 1978 in Niagara Falls, Ontario as Jacqueline Smith) is a Canadian curler from Waterdown, Ontario. Harrison currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Career Harrison's junior career involved reaching the semi-finals of the 1999 Ontario Juniors, winning the 1999 Ontario University championship and the provincial junior mixed championship playing third for future Olympic champion John Morris. After juniors, Harrison would win the Ontario Curling Association Tim Hortons Trophy with skip Vicky Hysop. She has also played in two mixed provincials (2008 and 2009). Ontario Curling Tour
The Ontario Curling Tour is a group of curling bonspiels, which takes places in Ontario, Canada and attracts some of the top male and female curlers in the province, and from across the country and world. The OCT was designed to promote competitive curling from a grass root level. The events for the Ontario Curling Tour begin at the end of August and typically run until December, with occasional events taking place in January. Several of the events on the Ontario Curling Tour are also included in the World Curling Tour. All events on the Ontario Curling Tour, much like those on World Curling Tour, contain a prize purse for the winning teams, and award CTRS (Canadian Team Ranking System) points to the Canadian teams competing. CTRS Standings
The Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) is a point system used by Curling Canada to rank men's and women's curling teams across Canada. They are determined through points earned in various curling bonspiels held worldwide throughout the season. CTRS points are the basis of the World Curling Tour's Order of Merit and are also used as criteria in identifying teams that qualify for the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Beginning in 2018, the top two CTRS teams that do not otherwise qualify for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts or Tim Hortons Brier will earn the right to compete in a play-in game for a wildcard berth in those tournaments. 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials
The 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials (branded as the 2021 Tim Hortons Curling Trials for sponsorship reasons) were held from November 20 to 28 at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The winners of the men's and women's events will represent Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics. In the women's final, the Jennifer Jones rink from Winnipeg defeated Tracy Fleury's East St. Paul, Manitoba rink 6–5 in an extra end. The win will send Jones back to the Olympics for the first time since winning a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Jones had a chance to win the game in the tenth end with an easy hit and stay to score two points, but her release was tight, and her rock ended up rolling too far, settling for one point, and tying the game 5–5. Hollie Duncan
Hollie Duncan (born January 6, 1987 in Toronto, Ontario as Hollie Nicol) is a Canadian curler. She currently skips her own team on the World Curling Tour. Career Juniors As a bantam-aged curler, Duncan skipped her Unionville Curling Club rink to a provincial Bantam championship in 2002. In 2004, Duncan represented the Bayview Country Club when her team won the Ontario Winter Games championship. Duncan wrapped up her junior career by winning the 2007 provincial junior championship. Her rink of Laura Hickey, Karen Sagle and Hilary McDermott from the Kitchener-Waterloo Granite Club would then go on to represent Ontario at the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships.
