The 2021–22 Vancouver Canucks season was the 52nd season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on May 22, 1970. The Canucks missed the playoffs for the second straight season, as they were eliminated from playoff contention when the Dallas Stars defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3–2 in a shootout on April 26, 2022. Pacific Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Pacific Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. It is also one of the two successors of the Smythe Division (the other one was the Northwest Division), though of the current teams, only the Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights did not play in the Smythe Division. Due to subsequent realignments, three of the Pacific Division's original teams (the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks) left the division in 1998 but returned in 2013. Thatcher Douglas Demko (born December 8, 1995) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Demko was selected by the Canucks in the second round (36th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career College and minor leagues Demko began playing ice hockey in San Diego at the age of 4. Jaroslav Halák
Jaroslav Halák (; born 13 May 1985) is a Slovak professional ice hockey goaltender for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Halák was selected with the 271st overall pick by the Montreal Canadiens in the ninth and final round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Nicknamed "Jaro", he first played for the Canadiens during the 2006–07 season, and remained with the team until being traded to the St. Louis Blues after the 2009–10 season. Michael DiPietro (born June 9, 1999) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the Maine Mariners (ECHL), Maine Mariners of the ECHL as a prospect to the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Canucks in the third round (64th overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, and played 3 games with them between 2019 and 2022, mainly playing with their minor league affiliates. The 2021–22 Seattle Kraken season was the inaugural season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. They played their home games at Climate Pledge Arena.
