2021 LSU Tigers Baseball Team
The 2021 LSU Tigers baseball team will represent Louisiana State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Tigers played their home games at Alex Box Stadium. Previous season The Tigers started the season 12–5, however the season was suspended and ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tigers had not yet begun SEC play. As a result, two seniors–Matthew Beck and Aaron George–were given an extra year of eligibility. In the 2019 season, the Tigers won the Baton Rouge Regional in the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball tournament before losing the Baton Rouge Super Regional to Florida State. Paul Mainieri
Paul Mainieri (born August 29, 1957) is a former baseball coach and second baseman. He played college baseball at LSU, Miami-Dade CC and New Orleans before pursuing a professional baseball career. He then served as the head coach of the St. Thomas Bobcats (1983–1988), the Air Force Falcons (1989–1994), the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1995–2006) and the LSU Tigers (2007–2021). Mainieri coached LSU to the 2009 College World Series Championship. Playing career Mainieri graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in Miami. He started his college baseball playing career in 1976 at LSU. He played for one season, earning a letter, before transferring to Miami-Dade North Community College to play for his father, Demie Mainieri. Lindsey Nelson Stadium
Lindsey Nelson Stadium is a baseball stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is the home field of the University of Tennessee Volunteers college baseball team. The stadium opened on February 23, 1993 and holds 4,387 people. The facility is named after Hall of Fame broadcaster Lindsey Nelson, who attended the university and founded the Vol Radio Network. From 2006 to 2019, the university undertook three major renovations to the stadium. Originally a natural grass playing surface, the 2019 renovation converted the field to Field Turf. Other renovations included premium seating, outfield wall improvements, and player facilities. In 2013, the Volunteers ranked 38th in among Division I baseball programs in attendance, averaging 1,846 per home game. 2021 Tennessee Volunteers Baseball Team
The 2021 Tennessee Volunteers baseball team represented the University of Tennessee during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. Tennessee competed in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Volunteers play their home games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Coach Tony Vitello lead the Volunteers in his 4th season with the program. Tennessee reached the College World Series for the first time since 2005, but were eliminated in two games. The 2021 Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team represented Mississippi State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bulldogs played their home games at Dudy Noble Field, Polk–DeMent Stadium.
