2021 Mississippi State Bulldogs Baseball Team
The 2021 Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team represented Mississippi State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Bulldogs played their home games at Dudy Noble Field, Polk–DeMent Stadium. Mississippi State won the 2021 College World Series (CWS) Championship over Vanderbilt giving the Bulldogs their first team national championship in any team sport. Preseason SEC Coaches poll The SEC coaches poll was released on February 11, 2021 with Mississippi State predicted to finish second in the Western Division, receiving three out of fourteen Western Division first place votes. Mississippi State also received one overall conference first place vote. Florida received twelve overall conference first place votes and Vanderbilt also received one. Chris Lemonis
Christopher Michael Lemonis (born January 22, 1970) is an American college baseball coach, currently serving as head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team. Lemonis grew up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He played college baseball as a first baseman at The Citadel, where he appeared with the team in the 1990 College World Series. He later earned All-SoCon honors twice and led the team in several offensive categories as a senior in 1993. In 1995, Lemonis began his coaching career as an assistant coach for The Citadel, a position he would hold until 2006. During his time on staff, The Citadel qualified for the NCAA Tournament five times and had seven All-American players. From 2007 to 2014, Lemonis was an assistant coach at Louisville, helping Louisville make seven NCAA Tournament appearances including the 2007 College World Series. Trustmark Park
Trustmark Park is the home of the Mississippi Braves, the Southern League (1964–present), Southern League Double-A (baseball), Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and is located in Pearl, Mississippi, USA. The ballpark, which opened April 18, 2005, has capacity for 8,480 fans. There are 5,500 chair-back chair, seats in the reserved seating areas. The grass berm beyond the outfield walls has room for an additional 2,000 general admission customers. On August 13, 2006, a record crowd of 7,652 saw the M-Braves defeat the Huntsville Stars 4–2. Plainsman Park
Plainsman Park, officially ''Samford Stadium – Hitchcock Field at Plainsman Park'', is the college baseball venue for the Auburn University Tigers. As of 2015, its seating capacity is 4,096. In 2003, ''Baseball America'' rated the facility the best college baseball venue in the country. The park's signature is its high left field fence, which is from home plate. The home team bullpen is located behind the left field fence, forcing media in the press box to use monitors to determine who is warming up. Plainsman Park was first used as a baseball facility in 1950. In 1996, Auburn significantly renovated Plainsman Park, drawing inspiration from ballparks such as Camden Yards, Fenway Park, and Wrigley Field in their design for the park. The Southern Jaguars baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. Kevin Kopps
Kevin Richard Kopps (born March 2, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Diego Padres organization. He previously played college baseball for the Arkansas Razorbacks of the University of Arkansas, competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In 2021, he won the Golden Spikes Award, the Dick Howser Trophy, National Pitcher of the Year Award, and Stopper of the Year Award. Amateur career Kopps attended George Ranch High School in Fort Bend County, Texas. He played for the school's baseball team as a pitcher, and was twice named all-state. The 2021 Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team (variously the Diamond Hogs or the Omahogs) represents the University of Arkansas in the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. Will Bednar
William Ross Bednar (born June 13, 2000) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Francisco Giants organization. He played college baseball for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Amateur career Bednar attended Mars Area High School in Mars, Pennsylvania, where he played baseball under his father, Andy. He originally committed to play college baseball at Ohio State University, but later switched his commitment to Mississippi State University. As a sophomore in 2017, he spent a majority of the season catching, and pitched only around 15 innings. In 2018, as a junior, he switched to pitching full time and went 8–0 with a 0.64 ERA and 120 strikeouts over 66 innings. As a senior in 2019, his playing time was limited due to a shoulder issue. Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field is a baseball stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is the home stadium of the Louisiana State University Tigers baseball team. The stadium section (and LSU's previous baseball stadium 200 yards to the north) were named for Simeon Alex Box, an LSU letterman (1942), Purple Heart and Distinguished Service Cross recipient, who was killed in North Africa during World War II. 2021 LSU Tigers Baseball Team
The 2021 LSU Tigers baseball team will represent Louisiana State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Tigers played their home games at Alex Box Stadium. Previous season The Tigers started the season 12–5, however the season was suspended and ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tigers had not yet begun SEC play. As a result, two seniors–Matthew Beck and Aaron George–were given an extra year of eligibility.
