Paul Mainieri
Paul Mainieri (born August 29, 1957) is an American college baseball coach and former second baseman. He is currently the head baseball coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks baseball, South Carolina Gamecocks. He played college baseball at LSU Tigers baseball, LSU, Miami Dade College, Miami-Dade CC and New Orleans Privateers baseball, New Orleans before pursuing a professional baseball career. He then served as the head coach of the St. Thomas Bobcats baseball, St. Thomas Bobcats (1983–1988), the Air Force Falcons baseball, Air Force Falcons (1989–1994), the Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball, Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1995–2006) and the LSU Tigers baseball, LSU Tigers (2007–2021). Mainieri coached LSU to the 2009 College World Series Championship. Demie Mainieri
Demie J. Mainieri (October 21, 1928 – March 13, 2019) was an American college baseball head coach who was the first junior college coach to win 1,000 career games. Biography Mainieri was from Jersey City, New Jersey and attended Lincoln High School. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1963 with a Ph.D. in education and administration. He served as an assistant coach in college football at Columbia University under head coach Lou Little. Mainieri served as the head coach of the college baseball team at Miami Dade Community College for thirty years, starting in 1960. He was named athletic director in 1963. The 2009 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was held from May 29 through June 24, 2009 and is part of the 2009 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 286 teams on May 25, 2009.
