2020 Arizona Senate Election
The 2020 Arizona Senate elections took place as part of the wikt:biennial, biennial 2020 2020 United States elections, United States elections. Arizona voters will elect state senators in all of the state's 30 senate districts. State senators serve two-year terms in the Arizona Senate, with all of the seats up for election each cycle. Arizona Senate
The Arizona State Senate is part of the Arizona Legislature, the state legislature of the US state of Arizona. The Senate consists of 30 members each representing an average of 219,859 constituents (2009 figures). Members serve two-year terms with term limits that limit Senators to four terms for a total of eight years. Members of the Republican Party are currently the majority in the Senate. There is currently 16 women serving in the Senate after Raquel Terán was appointed, making it the first time a majority of the body was composed of female members. As with the Arizona House of Representatives, members to the Senate are elected from the same legislative districts as House members, however one Senator represents the constituency, while for the House there are two Representatives per district. Sally Ann Gonzales (born October 2, 1957) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Arizona State Senate representing District 20 since January 9, 2023. She previously represented District 3 from 2019 to 2023, and also served in the Arizona House of Representatives representing District 3 since from 2013 to 2019. Victoria Steele
Victoria Steele is a former Democratic member of the Arizona State Senate representing District 9 from 2019 to 2023. She is a twice elected former Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives, serving District 9 in Tucson from 2013 to 2016. Franklin M. Pratt (August 27, 1942 – September 21, 2021) was an American politician who served as a Republican member of the Arizona State Senate. He had previously been a member of the Arizona House of Representatives, representing District 8. Pratt served consecutively from January 2009 until January 14, 2013, in the District 23 seat. Jamescita Mae Peshlakai ( IPA: ) is a former Democratic member of the Arizona State Senate, serving from 2017 to 2021. She previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2013 until 2015, and served as co-Minority Whip for the 2018 sitting of the state senate.
