Sally Ann Gonzales
Sally Ann Gonzales (born October 2, 1957) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Arizona State Senate representing District 20 since January 9, 2023. She previously represented District 3 from 2019 to 2023, and also served in the Arizona House of Representatives representing District 3 since from 2013 to 2019. She previously served consecutively from January 10, 2011 until January 14, 2013 in the District 27 seat, and non-consecutively from January 1997 until January 2001 in the District 20 seat. Education Gonzales earned her BA in elementary education from Arizona State University and her MA in multicultural education from the University of Arizona. Laura Knaperek
Laura Knaperek (July 12, 1955 – March 3, 2016) was an American Republican politician and public official from Arizona. She was first elected to the Arizona state House of Representatives in 1994. She compiled a conservative record while taking an avid interest in youth and family issues. In 2002, she ran for the state Senate, but lost the general election to Democrat Harry Mitchell. In 2004, she made a comeback, returning to the state House of Representatives, but was defeated for reelection in 2006. While out of office, she became Executive Director of United Families International, a conservative advocacy group. Arizona Senate
The Arizona State Senate is part of the Arizona Legislature, the state legislature of the US state of Arizona. The Senate consists of 30 members each representing an average of 219,859 constituents (2009 figures). Members serve two-year terms with term limits that limit Senators to four terms for a total of eight years. Members of the Republican Party are currently the majority in the Senate. There is currently 16 women serving in the Senate after Raquel Terán was appointed, making it the first time a majority of the body was composed of female members. As with the Arizona House of Representatives, members to the Senate are elected from the same legislative districts as House members, however one Senator represents the constituency, while for the House there are two Representatives per district.
