On the Senate floor, Rogers refused to apologize or "back down" and accused Senate Republican leadership of "colluding with the Democrats". Rogers had previously threatened to "destroy the careers" of any Republican Senators who voted to censure her. The motion passed 24–3, with Rogers and two other senators voting no. Rogers's censure was the first such successful motion in three decades.
