The 2016 United States House of Representatives elections in Arizona were held on November 8, 2016, to elect the nine U.S. representatives from the state of Arizona, one from each of the state's nine congressional districts. The elections coincided with the 2016 U.S. presidential election, as well as other elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections. The primaries were held on August 30. District 1 Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick was re-elected to a second term in 2014 with 52% of the vote. She ran for the U.S. Senate in 2016 but lost to incumbent John McCain. On the Republican side, rancher and candidate for the seat in 2014 Gary Kiehne ran again. The President of the Navajo Nation is the head of state of the Navajo Nation. The office was created in 1991 following restructuring of the national government. The President and Vice President are elected every four years. The Navajo Nation President shall serve no more than two consecutive terms. Catherine Miranda (born October 5, 1964) is an American politician and member of the Arizona Senate from District 11. Miranda previously served in the Arizona Senate, representing the 27th electoral district from 2015 to 2019. She was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015. Incumbent Republican Governor Jan Brewer was term-limited and could not run for re-election to a second consecutive full term in office.
