2019 WPA World Nine-ball Championship
The 2019 WPA World Nine-ball Championship was a nine-ball pool championship, which took place from December 13 to 17, 2019 at the al-Arabi Sports Club in Doha, Qatar. The defending champion was Germany's Joshua Filler, who won the 2018 event defeating Carlo Biado in the final 13–10. Nine-ball (sometimes written 9-ball) is a discipline of the cue sport pool. The game's origins are traceable to the 1920s in the United States. It is played on a rectangular billiard table with at each of the four corners and in the middle of each long side. Mateusz Śniegocki (born 3 January 1985 in Poznan) is a Polish professional pool player. Śniegocki is a former 10-Ball European champion and three-time winner of events at the Euro Tour. Career Śniegocki started playing billiards in a club called "Hades" in 1999, winning 5 national junior titles before 2005. Aloysius Yapp (; zh, s=叶浚惟, p=Yè Jùnwéi; born 2 May 1996) is a Singaporean professional pool player. He was world junior champion in nine-ball in 2014 and runner-up in the 2021 U.S. Open Pool Championship. Career Yapp began playing pool at age eight. An alumnus of Saint Patrick's School, he dropped out of school in 2011 to turn professional, although he eventually completed his GCE Ordinary Level examinations at Coleman College. Ko Pin-yi (born 31 May 1989) is a Taiwanese professional pool player. He became multiple World Champion in the disciplines of 9-ball and 10-ball in 2015. Career Ko defeated Carlo Biado in the final of the 2015 WPA World Ten-ball Championship. He then defeated Shane Van Boening in the final of the 2015 WPA World Nine-ball Championship. Ko Ping-chung (also Ko Pin-chung , born 18 September 1995) is a Taiwanese 9-ball pool player. Ko is the younger brother of Ko Pin-yi. Career In November 2010, Ko Ping-chung reached his first major final the All Japan Championship. However, he lost in the final against the German Thorsten Hohmann.
