2019 RFL Women's Super League
The 2019 RFL Women's Super League known as the Betfred Women's Super League for sponsorship reasons was the third season of the Rugby League Women's Super League for female players in clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football League. The champions were Leeds Rhinos who beat Castleford Tigers 20–12 in the Grand Final on 11 October 2019. Castleford Tigers won the league leaders shield, a 44–0 win over York City Knights in round 13 put them three points clear of nearest rivals, St Helens, with a round to spare. For 2019, the number of teams was expanded from seven to eight, with the addition of Wakefield Trinity to the league. The season comprised 14 rounds, with each team playing each other home and away, commencing on 7 April and ending on 29 September. Castleford Tigers Women
The Castleford Tigers Women are a female rugby league club in Castleford, West Yorkshire, England, that competes in the Women's Super League, the top-level Women's rugby league club competition in the United Kingdom. Nicknamed the Tigresses, the club formed in 2016 and participated as one of 3 teams in the inaugural season of the 2017 Women's Super League season, which then grew to 7 teams in 2018. The York Valkyrie are the women's rugby league team of York RLFC (known as York City Knights from 2002 to 2022) based in York, England. The Valkyrie, who were established in 2016 as the York City Knights Ladies, compete in the Women's Super League and play their home games at York Community Stadium which is also home to the York RLFC men's team, the York Knights, and football club, York City F.C. Featherstone Rovers are a women's rugby league club from Featherstone, West Yorkshire, England, who play in Group 2 of the RFL Women's Super League. They play their home games at Post Office Road which is also home to the Featherstone Rovers men's team. History The Featherstone Rovers women's team was founded in 2011 and competed in the Women's Rugby League Conference for their first three seasons. The club, which had previously been the Wakefield Panthers, included numerous England internationals and were one of the most successful women's teams of the previous twenty years having won the Women's Amateur Rugby League Association Challenge Cup 14 times between 1991 and 2007.
