Featherstone Rovers Women
Featherstone Rovers are a women's rugby league club from Featherstone, West Yorkshire, England, who play in Group 2 of the RFL Women's Super League. They play their home games at Post Office Road which is also home to the Featherstone Rovers men's team. History The Featherstone Rovers women's team was founded in 2011 and competed in the Women's Rugby League Conference for their first three seasons. The club, which had previously been the Wakefield Panthers, included numerous England internationals and were one of the most successful women's teams of the previous twenty years having won the Women's Amateur Rugby League Association Challenge Cup 14 times between 1991 and 2007. They won the cup again in 2011 in their first season as Featherstone Rovers. In 2012, Featherstone won the inaugural RFL Women's Challenge Cup defeating Bradford Thunderbirds 46–0 in the final. Post Office Road
Post Office Road (currently known as the Millennium Stadium for sponsorship purposes) is a rugby league ground in Featherstone, near Pontefract, West Yorkshire, England. It is the home of rugby league club Featherstone Rovers. The ground's current capacity is 6,954. History The ground opened in 1904 and has been used by the club since their formation in 1908. The record attendance is 17,000 from a 1957 game against St. Helens. In 2011, fans bought stands from the defunct Scarborough F.C.'s McCain Stadium and erected them at the railway end of the ground, replacing the terracing. Emily Rudge
Emily Rudge is a British rugby league player who plays for St Helens Women in the Women's Super League. She plays at . Born in Warrington Rudge attended Cardinal Newman High School and first played rugby league for a local Warrington club before joining Thatto Heath Crusaders. While at Thatto Heath she was first selected for the England women's national rugby league team in 2008, aged 16. At the end of the 2018 season Rudge was named captain of the England team for the test match against and in 2019 was named as England captain for the World 9s tournament in Australia in October 2019 and also the two-match test series against in November 2019. In the first test match against Papua New Guinea on 9 November 2019 Rudge became the first England player to score four tries in a test match as England won 24–10. 2023 RFL Women's Super League
The 2023 RFL Women's Super League (also known as the Betfred Women's Super League for sponsorship reasons) was the seventh season of the Women's Super League, for female players in clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football League (RFL). Leeds Rhinos were the defending champions having defeated York City Knights in the 2022 Grand Final. Since then both teams had announced that they would become semi-professional for the 2023 season and York had been rebranded as York Valkyrie. On 9 April, they faced each other at Headingley in the opening match of the 2023 season. York went unbeaten through the regular season to retain the League Leaders' Shield and defeated Leeds 16–6 in the Grand Final on 23 September. The 2021 RFL Women's Super League (also known as the Betfred Women's Super League for sponsorship reasons) was the fifth season of the Rugby League Women's Super League for female players in clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football League (RFL). The title was won by St Helens who beat Leeds Rhinos 28–0 in the Grand Final at Headingley on 10 October. The ''Yorkshire Evening Post'' is a daily evening publication (delivered to newsagents every morning) published by Yorkshire Post Newspapers in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The paper provides a regional slant on the day's news, and traditionally provides close reporting on Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos as well as the Yorkshire County Cricket Club team. The newspaper generally takes a liberal/centre left position. The 2018 RFL Women's Super League was the second season of the rugby league Women's Super League for female players in clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football League. The grand final was won by Wigan Warriors Women, who beat Leeds Rhinos Women 18–16 at the Grand Final at the Manchester Regional Arena.
