2019 Liga 3 (Georgia)
Тhe 2019 Liga 3 was the third season under its current name and 32nd third-tier season since Georgia formed independent football league system in 1990. It began on 4 March and ended with promotion play-off return legs on 10 December. Team changes Following the previous season, the number of teams participating in Liga 3 was halved. With no club promoted from a lower league, the five relegated teams were among first members of the newly formed Liga 4. Liga 3 (Georgia)
Liga 3, organized by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Until 2017, when the current name was introduced, it was known as Meore Liga (the Second league). Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups. For 2022 the number of clubs was increased to 16. Seasons run based on Spring-Autumn system with each team playing an equal amount of home and away games against their league rivals. Samegrelo Chikhorotsku
FC Samegrelo ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი საამეგრელო) is a Georgian football club based in the town of Chkhorotsku. They currently compete in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of the Georgian league system. The team plays their home matches at Bondo Papaskiri central Stadium. History Founded in 1980, the club has not participated in the Georgian top flight. In unique circumstances Samegrelo once took part in Pirveli Liga. In the middle of the 2014-15 season, they replaced Sasco, who had withdrawn from the competition due to financial troubles. As the team failed to stay up in the league, though, they spent the next three years in the third tier. Samegrelo won C Group of Meore Liga in 2016. However, not a single team gained promotion in this transitional season. Mtskheta-Mtianeti ( ka, მცხეთა-მთიანეთი, literally "Mtskheta-Mountain Area") is a region (Mkhare) in eastern Georgia comprising the town of Mtskheta, which serves as a regional capital, together with its district and the adjoining mountainous areas. Dusheti
Dusheti () is a town in Georgia (country), Georgia, the administrative center of Dusheti Municipality, in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti mkhare, region, 54 km northeast of the nation's capital of Tbilisi. History Dusheti is on both banks of the small, mountainous Dushetis-Khevi River in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus range at an elevation of 900 m. It functions as the center of the Dusheti Municipality which, beyond the town itself, includes several villages of the historical community of Pkhovi, (Pshavi, and Khevsureti). FC Bakhmaro Chokhatauri
FC Bakhmaro (''Georgian'': საფეხბურთო კლუბი ბახმარო) is a Georgian association football club based in Chokhatauri. The club currently competes in Liga 3, the third tier of the national football system. History FC Bakhmaro have never participated in the top division of Georgian football. In the 1990s they took part in the second league for several seasons and in the mid-2010s the club mostly played in the third division, where they usually stayed in top half of the table. Despite coming 2nd in their group in 2016, Bakhmaro left the third tier in view of reorganization of the entire league system, which meant relegation for a vast majority of clubs. FC Gori
FC Gori is a Georgian association football club, based in Gori, which competes in Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football system. History Established in 2015, FC Gori to this day retains the status of a municipal non-commercial legal entity. Currently they are the only club to have been in the third division for the eight successive season. The team achieved their best result in Liga 3 in 2016 when they won the tournament after an unbeaten run during the entire season. But in this transitional season all group winners were denied promotion. FC Gori came close to Liga 2 again in 2020, when they earned a place in play-offs against Merani Martvili. FC Matchakhela is a Georgia (country), Georgian football (soccer), football club based in the town of Khelvachauri. They currently compete in Liga 3 (Georgia), Liga 3, the third tier of the Football in Georgia (country), national league system. History Matchakhela were founded оn the basis of Khelvachauri Sport School in 2011. Amiran Gogitidze, the first head coach, guided the club to Meore Liga, which they won with automatic promotion. Matchakhela were engaged in inter-Adjarian rivalry with Dinamo Batumi for a second promotion place to Umaglesi Liga for most of the next season, in which eventually the latter prevailed. FC Samgurali Tsqaltubo is a Georgian association football club from Tsqaltubo, which takes part in Erovnuli Liga, the first tier of the national league. They have been runners-up of the Georgian Cup three times. History In Soviet and national leagues Formed in 1945 as ''FC Medic'', the football club from Tsqaltubo had the most prolific years in 1980s. Between 1983 and 1990 under the name ''Shadrevani'' they became champions of the Georgian Soviet league three times, once finished as runners-up and once won bronze medals. When Georgian Football Federation formed an independent championship in 1990, Samgurali spent eight out of the initial ten seasons in the top flight. FC Sulori is a Georgian football club based in the town of Vani. They currently take part in Liga 4, the forth tier of Georgian league system. The team has spent two seasons in the top flight. They play their home games at Grigol Nikoleishvili Stadium. History Sulori became champions of the Georgian Soviet league in 1969. This success enabled the club to participate in the Soviet Second Minor league the next year, which they finished in the 10th place among 18 teams. By claiming seven titles within nine years, Sulori became one of the leading members of the republican league in 1980s. In the same period twice in a row they clinched the Georgian Cup as well. FC Gardabani (Georgian: სკ გარდაბანი) is a Georgian association football club from the city of Gardabani. Within less than a decade since joining Georgian football, Gardabani have had different years from the lowest division to the 2nd tier. Following the 2023 season, they won promotion to Liga 3, the third tier of the national football system. History Gardabani were established in 2015 as a municipal club. They won the regional league tournament in the very first season. Promoted to Liga 3, Gardabani took the 1st place amid a tight competition with Mtskheta and Tskhumi. Regionuli Liga (Georgian: რეგიონული ლიგა), run by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the fifth and lowest division of the Georgian league system after Erovnuli Liga, Erovnuli Liga 2, Liga 3 and Liga 4. Its participants are both professional clubs and reserve teams of higher league members. Prior to the introduction of Liga 4 in 2019, Regionuli Liga was the fifth tier. Structure As the name implies, the league is based on regional principle. Depending on the number of participating clubs, it is divided into several groups. In 2017, there were forty teams allocated in three groups. The next year two zones were created for teams based in Western Georgia and two more for the eastern regions.
