FC Bakhmaro Chokhatauri
FC Bakhmaro (''Georgian'': საფეხბურთო კლუბი ბახმარო) is a Georgian association football club based in Chokhatauri. The club currently competes in Liga 3, the third tier of the national football system. History FC Bakhmaro have never participated in the top division of Georgian football. In the 1990s they took part in the second league for several seasons and in the mid-2010s the club mostly played in the third division, where they usually stayed in top half of the table. Despite coming 2nd in their group in 2016, Bakhmaro left the third tier in view of reorganization of the entire league system, which meant relegation for a vast majority of clubs. It took the team a year to win the Regional league tournament, the then forth division, and return to Liga 3. The next year the club had quite a memorable season. Liga 3, organized by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Until 2017, when the current name was introduced, it was known as Meore Liga (the Second league). Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups. For 2022 the number of clubs was increased to 16. Seasons run based on Spring-Autumn system with each team playing an equal amount of home and away games against their league rivals. The league operates based on a system of promotion and relegation. 2020 Liga 3 (Georgia)
Тhe 2020 Liga 3 season was the fourth one under its current name and 33rd since Georgia formed independent football league system in 1990. Team changes Five new members joined the league after the previous season. Tbilisi City and Spaeri gained promotion from Liga 4, while Guria Lanchkhuti, Kolkheti-1913 and Tskhinvali were relegated from the second division. The latter, though, having failed to meet the existing financial commitments, were expelled and replaced by Gareji Sagarejo, a third place team from the lower league. Review The teams played opening matches of the season in early March, but as COVID was raging, all sport activities were halted. The games resumed in late July. A two-round competition concluded in December with Gareji Sagarejo winning the league. Kolkheti-1913 finished second, while Gori prevailed in a battle for the third qualifying slot. Boris Paichadze ( ka, ბორის პაიჭაძე, ; russian: Борис Соломонович Пайчадзе; 3 February 1915 – 9 October 1990) was a Georgian footballer, who played for FC Dinamo Tbilisi. The largest stadium in Georgia, the Boris Paichadze Stadium in Tbilisi, is named after him. In 2001, he was voted the best Georgian football player of the 20th century. Career Born in Chokhatauri, Paichadze's family moved to Poti when he was 7 years old. He started playing career in some local youth football clubs there. FC Chibati ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი ჩიბათი) is a Georgian association football club based in Lanchkhuti, which currently competes in Regionuli Liga, the fifth tier of the national league system. History Chibati were founded in 1983. They served as a reserve team for Guria and participated in the second division of Georgian championship for several years. In 2018, the team was restored on the basis of a local Sport Centre. The next year they took part in Regionuli Liga, where the debutants under Revaz Kukuladze qualified for the Promotion Group. FC Guria is a Georgian association football club from Lanchkhuti, which competes in Liga 3, the third tier of the national league. Being one of the strongest Georgian teams in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Guria have taken part in the Soviet Top league, also won the national Cup and played fifteen seasons in Umaglesi Liga, twice claiming silver medals. The winner of this season's cup will earn a spot in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
