2018 World's Strongest Man
The 2018 World's Strongest Man was the 41st edition of the World's Strongest Man competition held in Manila, Philippines from April 28 to May 6, and was won by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson the first Icelander since Magnús Ver Magnússon in 1996 to win the title. Mateusz Kieliszkowski of Poland finished second and four-time winner Brian Shaw of the United States third. The qualifying phase lasted until May 1 while the finals took place on May 5th and 6th while various World's Strongest Man events were hosted within and outside Metro Manila. Among the venues were the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park; Intramuros, Manila; Bonifacio Global City in Taguig; and the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City. Taguig (), officially the City of Taguig ( fil, Lungsod ng Taguig), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in Metro Manila, Philippines. Adam Bishop
Adam Bishop is a professional strongman and former winner of the Britain's Strongest Man competition. Bishop refers to himself in the media as "one of the little guys" in the sport, despite weighing over 300lbs. Bishop has also competed in rugby, where he played as a winger, and in skeleton bobsleigh. Strongman career Bishop started competing in open strongman competitions in 2012, having progressed from the under-105kg category. He entered the heats for the World's Strongest Man in 2015, establishing himself as an up-and-coming talent. Bishop steadily improved his standings in the competition, narrowly missing a place in the grand final of the 2016 World's Strongest Man when he was beaten in the Atlas Stones. Johan Els (born 29 May 1979) is a South African strongman competitor from Christiana, South Africa. He is a 2 x times Africa's Strongest Man Champion (2016 and 2018) and was selected to the World's Strongest Man competition thrice, winning 6th place in the 2018 World's Strongest Man competition held in Manila, Philippines. Peiman Maheripour (Persian: پیمان ماهریپور) (born 15 October 1987) is an Iranian Strongman and powerlifter. Strongman career He got the second place in Iran's Strongest Man in 2018. He is the third Iranian athlete (after Soltaan Bathaiee in 2005 and Reza Gharaei in 2006) who could compete in World's Strongest Man event in 2017. Tagaytay, officially the City of Tagaytay ( fil, Lungsod ng Tagaytay), is a 2nd class component city in the province of Cavite, Philippines.
