2018 Challenge Tour
The 2018 Challenge Tour was a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. It was introduced in 1986 and was originally called the Satellite Tour, before being renamed with its present title in 1990. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2018 season. Challenge Tour Rankings ''For full rankings, see 2018 Challenge Tour graduates.'' The rankings were titled as the Road to Ras Al Khaimah and were based on prize money won during the season, calculated using a points-based system. The top 15 players on the tour earned status to play on the 2019 European Tour. Kim Koivu
Kim Koivu (born 11 April 1991) is a Finnish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won three times on the 2018 Challenge Tour. Amateur career Koivu attended Georgia Southern University from 2013 to 2015, having previously attended Brevard College for two years. Koivu played on the Nordic Golf League as an amateur during 2017. At the end of the season, he qualified for the final stage of the European Tour Q-school. He turned professional at the end of the season. Professional career Koivu's success in reaching the final stage of the Q-school gained him entry to 2018 Challenge Tour events. He won his second event, the Belt & Road Colorful Yunnan Open, won again later in the season at the Vierumäki Finnish Challenge, where he beat Robert MacIntyre at the first hole of a playoff, and then won the Rolex Trophy two weeks later. Stuart Manley
Stuart Manley (born 15 January 1979) is a Welsh professional golfer. Early life Manley was born in Mountain Ash in the historic county of Glamorgan. He showed sporting promise at an early age, and at age 16 had trials with the football clubs Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Luton Town. However, he chose to concentrate on golf, taking a four-year scholarship to the University of West Florida. The highlight of his amateur career was playing in the 2003 Walker Cup. Professional career Manley turned professional in later 2003, and immediately joined the Challenge Tour, finishing 90th in his first season. At the end of that year he came through the qualifying school to earn a place on the European Tour for the first time. The Saint-Omer Open is an annual men's professional golf tournament played at Saint-Omer Golf Club in Saint-Omer, France. The tournament was founded in 1997 and was part of the MasterCard Tour a year later, before taking its place on the Challenge Tour for the 2000 season. Pedro Figueiredo
Pedro Figueiredo (born 13 June 1991) is a Portuguese professional golfer. In June 2018 won the KPMG Trophy on the Challenge Tour. Amateur career Figueiredo had a successful amateur career. At the age of 12, he represented his country at the 2003 European Boys' Team Championship for the first of seven appearances. He won the Boys Amateur Championship and Irish Amateur Open Championship in 2008. Figueiredo played college golf at the UCLA where he won three events. He turned professional in mid-2013 after competing in the 2013 Palmer Cup. Professional career Figueiredo played on the Challenge Tour from 2013 to 2016 with little success. Marcel Schneider (born 6 February 1990) is a German professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and the Challenge Tour. He has won three times on the Challenge Tour, the 2018 Swiss Challenge and the 2021 Kaskáda Golf Challenge and Open de Portugal. Amateur career Schneider had a successful year in 2012. Swiss Challenge
The Swiss Challenge is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, held in Switzerland, except in 2021, when it was held in France. History It was first played as the Credit Suisse Private Banking Open in 2000 and 2001 at the Golf Club Patriziale Ascona in Ascona. It replaced the Interlaken Open which ended after financial issues. During the course of the 2002 edition, the heavy rain led to the overflow of the Lake Maggiore and to the cancellation of the event. Following a four-year hiatus, the tournament returned in 2006 and was held at the Wylihof Golf Club in Luterbach through 2009. Since 2010 the event has been played at Golf Sempachersee in Hildisrieden. In 2021, the event was uniquely held in France. Liam Johnston (born 26 January 1993) is a Scottish professional golfer. He won the Kazakhstan Open and Match Play 9 on the Challenge Tour in 2018. Amateur career Johnston had a successful junior career and finished second on the Scottish Boys Order of Merit in 2010 and 2011.
