2017 German Darts Masters (World Series Of Darts)
The 2017 German Darts Masters was the inaugural staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation, as the seventh and last entry in the 2017 World Series of Darts. The tournament featured 16 players (eight PDC players facing eight regional qualifiers) and was held at the Castello Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany between 20–21 October 2017. Peter Wright won his first World Series title after defeating Phil Taylor 11–4 in the final, after surviving one match dart each in his first round and quarter-final game. Prize money The total prize fund was £60,000. Mensur Suljović
Mensur Suljović (Serbian Cyrillic: Менсур Суљовић; born 5 March 1972) is an Austrian professional darts player. He plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, having previously played in the British Darts Organisation (BDO). Nicknamed The Gentle, Suljović is noted for his unorthodox throwing action and favouring double 14 as his finishing double where possible. Suljović is the number one Austrian player in the PDC and reached his first major final in 2016 at the European Championship. He went one step further in winning his first major TV title at the 2017 Champions League of Darts, defeating two-times world champion Gary Anderson on two occasions. Phil Taylor (darts Player)
Philip Douglas Taylor (born 13 August 1960) is an English former professional darts player. Nicknamed "The Power", he dominated darts for over two decades and won 214 professional tournaments, including a record 85 major titles and a record 16 World Championships. In 2015, the BBC rated Taylor among the ten greatest British sportsmen of the last 35 years. Taylor won eight consecutive World Championships from 1995 to 2002, reached 14 consecutive finals from 1994 to 2007 and reached 21 world finals overall, all of which are records. He held the world number one ranking for thirteen years in total, including eight in a row from 2006 to 2013. Peter Wright (darts Player)
Peter Wright (born 10 March 1970) is a Scottish professional darts player who plays in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), where he is currently ranked No. 2 in the world. Nicknamed "Snakebite", he is a two-time world champion, having won the PDC World Darts Championship in 2020 and 2022. He is also a World Matchplay champion and has been ranked as the World No. 1 in the PDC twice (both times occurring in 2022). When he was 24, Wright qualified for the first round of the 1995 BDO World Darts Championship, but then stopped playing darts professionally, working instead as a builder and tyre fitter while competing in local darts leagues. Robert Marijanovic (born 6 May 1980) is a German darts player of Croatian heritage. Career Marijanović qualified for the 2013 PDC World Darts Championship after coming through the Eastern European qualifier. He was beaten 3–4 by Northern Ireland's Daryl Gurney in the preliminary round. In February 2013 he played in his first World Cup of Darts, representing Croatia alongside Tonči Restović and they advanced from Group G courtesy of a 5–3 victory over New Zealand. Dragutin Horvat (born 8 January 1976) is a German professional darts player of Croatian origin. He currently plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Horvat reached the quarter-finals of the 2016 International Darts Open, defeating Ricky Evans, Gerwyn Price and Ian White before being eliminated by Kim Huybrechts. Kevin Münch
Kevin Münch (born 27 July 1988) is a German darts player. Career Münch reached the last 40 of the 2011 Winmau World Masters before losing to Colin Fowler. Münch qualified for the 2012 PDC World Darts Championship after winning the German Qualifier, defeating Bernd Roith 10–8 in the final. He defeated Malaysia's Lee Choon Peng 4–2 in the preliminary round. In the first round, he played Denis Ovens, and won the first set 3–0 before Ovens was forced to retire from the match due to a back injury. Martin Schindler (born 16 August 1996) is a German professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Schindler won a PDC Tour Card at Qualifying-School (Q-School) in January 2017.
