2015 Singapore League Cup
The 2015 Singapore League Cup (known as the TNP League Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the ninth season of Singapore's premier club football tournament organised by the Football Association of Singapore. DPMM FC were the defending champions, having won their third trophy the previous year. Albirex Niigata (S) were the eventual winners after defeating 2013 champions Balestier Khalsa 2–1 in the finals. Unlike the previous three tournaments held in 2012, 2013 and 2014, the League Cup Plate Competition between the third-placing teams in each group after the group stages were cancelled from 2015 onward. Singapore League Cup
The Singapore League Cup was an annual soccer competition in Singapore. It was launched in 2007, and was open to teams who play in the S.League. The 2007 competition was sponsored by SingTel, and officially titled the SingTel League Cup. Eight of the twelve S.League teams took part in the 2007 tournament, which was held before the start of the S.League season proper. In 2008, the competition's official sponsored name was the Avaya-J&J League Cup (with sponsorship coming from Avaya and Jebsen & Jessen Communications). All twelve S.League teams took part in the 2008 tournament. Unlike the 2007 event, the 2008 competition was held during the S.League season. The 2009 edition of the League Cup was held from 1 to 19 June, again during the S.League season. The competition began with a group stage, where the clubs were divided into four groups of three. Lion City Sailors Football Club, commonly referred to as The Sailors or LCS, is a Singaporean professional football club competing in the Singapore Premier League, the top tier of the Singapore football league system. Since the 2021 season, the team have played their home games at Jalan Besar Stadium. LCS is one of the most successful football clubs in Singapore, with its club owner being Forrest Li, who also owns Sea Ltd. Jalan Besar Stadium, officially the Jalan Besar ActiveSG Stadium, is a association football, football stadium located in Kallang, Singapore. The stadium is part of the Jalan Besar Sports and Recreation Centre, a community sports facility that includes the stadium as well as a swimming complex. Mohammad Hafiz bin Mohd Nor (born 22 August 1988) is a Singaporean professional footballer who plays as a full-back or winger for Singapore Premier League club Lion City Sailors and the Singapore national team. Hougang Stadium
Hougang Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located at the junction of Hougang Avenue 2 and Hougang Avenue 10 in Hougang, Singapore. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Hougang United FC. The public can use the facilities from 4:30 am to 8:30 pm daily unless it is exclusively booked for a sporting event. The stadium has a capacity of 3,800 people. Hougang United Football Club is a Singaporean professional football club that competes in the Singapore Premier League. History Hougang United Football Club was founded as Marine Castle United Football Club, which was formed by Newcastle United fans in the Marine Parade area. Upon successful entry into the S.League in 1998, the club struggled in its early foray in the first few years, finishing in the bottom two for the next four seasons. Marine Castle changed its name to Sengkang Marine Football Club in 2002 and finished in 8th position consecutively, its highest ever finish in its short history. Warriors Football Club is a Singaporean professional football club that played in the Singapore Premier League, the top division of football in Singapore. Before changing their name on 20 January 2013, they were previously known as the Singapore Armed Forces Football Club (SAFFC) since their establishment on 16 February 1996. Despite their name back then, not all players from the team came from the Armed Forces. Some were internationals and others were foreign.
