2014 Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2014 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Ontario, was held from January 6 to 12 at the Soo Curlers Association in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The winning team represented Ontario at the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Montreal. The event marked the final tournament to include teams from Northern Ontario, which began to have its own entry into the Scotties beginning in 2015. Qualification Process Ten teams qualify for the provincial tournament through several methods. Four teams qualified from Northern Ontario, two teams qualified from Regions 1 and 2, two teams qualified from regions 3 and 4 and two teams qualified from the Challenge Round. The defending champion Rachel Homan did not need to participate in the qualification process, as she won the 2013 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and therefore represented Team Canada at the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Rachel Homan
Rachel Catherine Homan (born April 5, 1989) is a Canadian international curler. Homan is a former Canadian junior champion, a three-time Canadian national champion, and the 2017 world champion, all as a skip. She was also the skip of the Canadian women's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. During her junior career, Homan competed in two Canadian Junior Curling Championships, placing second in 2009 and winning the championship in 2010. She also won a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. Throughout her women's career, Homan has medalled at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's national curling championships, seven times, winning gold three times (2013, 2014, and 2017), silver three times (2019, 2020, and 2021), and bronze once (2015). Amanda Gates
Amanda Gates (born March 26, 1986, in Sudbury, Ontario) is a Canadian curler who currently coaches the Abby Deschene rinks on the World Curling Tour. Gates used to play with Team Tracy Fleury (née Horgan) and in 2015, Team Horgan became the first women's team in the history of women's curling to represent Northern Ontario at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. In Gates' first appearance at the Scotties (2012 in Red Deer, Alberta), she won the Marj Mitchell Sportsmanship Award. Jenna Enge
Jenna Enge (born March 2, 1988) is a Canadian curler, originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario. She currently plays second on Team Penny Barker. She formerly played for the Tracy Fleury (née Horgan) rink and in 2015, Team Horgan became the first team to represent Northern Ontario at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Career Juniors Enge was born in Fort Frances, Ontario. She was a Northern Ontario junior champion in 2008, playing second for Ashley Miharija. At the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, playing for Miharija, they finished with a 8–4 record, tied for third place with Alberta (skipped by Maria Bushell) and Saskatchewan (skipped by Stephanie McVicar). Jenn Horgan
Jennifer Wylie (born August 1, 1984) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. Career Juniors Wylie was born in Sudbury, Ontario. She is the 2005 Northern Ontario junior champion. In 2005, Wylie skipped the Northern Ontario team, but did not throw last stones. Instead, her sister Tracy Fleury did. At the 2005 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Wylie and her team finished with a 7-5 record, just out of the playoffs. 2008–2013 In 2008, Wylie's team graduated to the women's level, and the team qualified for the 2008 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Julie Reddick
Julie Tippin (born August 16, 1983 in Pointe-Claire, Quebec as Julie Lynne Reddick) is a Canadian curler from Owen Sound, Ontario. Tippin is a three-time provincial junior champion, and a Canadian mixed champion. Career Tippin attended high school in Beaconsfield, Quebec where she was on her high school curling team. Tippin began her successful curling career by winning the 1999 Ontario provincial junior championships. At the 1999 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Tippin skipped Ontario to an 8-4 record, just out of the playoffs. Tippin was still eligible for Bantams that year, and she won the 1999 Bantam Girls provincial championship as well. Sherry Middaugh
Sherry L. Middaugh (née Hamel, born October 11, 1966 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler from Victoria Harbour, Ontario. Before marrying world champion curler Wayne Middaugh, she was known as Sherry Scheirich. She is a five-time Ontario champion and a one-time Saskatchewan curling champion. She is currently the coach of Team Tracy Fleury. Career Middaugh, originally from Saskatchewan, won the 1986 Saskatchewan Junior Women's Championship. She represented Saskatchewan at the 1986 Canadian Junior Women's Curling Championship, where she tied for fourth with a 6–4 record. Cathy Auld
Catherine "Cathy" Auld (born December 3, 1971) is a Canadian curler from Toronto. She currently skips her own team out of Thornhill, Ontario. Career Auld was a longtime member of the Alison Goring rink. Auld played third for the team until 2006 when she was promoted to last rock thrower when Goring moved to throwing lead rocks. The team found success together with this lineup modification. At the 2007 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, they finished the round robin with a 7-2 record. This was enough to secure a playoff spot and they faced Sherry Middaugh in the 3-4 game. However, they lost the game. The team qualified for the 2008 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, where they completed the round robin with a 6-3 record. Hollie Nicol
Hollie Duncan (born January 6, 1987 in Toronto, Ontario as Hollie Nicol) is a Canadian curler. She currently skips her own team on the World Curling Tour. Career Juniors As a bantam-aged curler, Duncan skipped her Unionville Curling Club rink to a provincial Bantam championship in 2002. In 2004, Duncan represented the Bayview Country Club when her team won the Ontario Winter Games championship. Duncan wrapped up her junior career by winning the 2007 provincial junior championship. Her rink of Laura Hickey, Karen Sagle and Hilary McDermott from the Kitchener-Waterloo Granite Club would then go on to represent Ontario at the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The Dawna Range (; th, ทิวเขาถนนธงชัยตะวันตก, ทิวเขาดอยมอนกุจู), also known as Dawna Hills, is a mountain range in eastern Burma and northwestern Thailand. Its northern end is located in Kayah State where it meets the Daen Lao Range, a subrange of the Shan Hills. The range runs southwards along Kayin State as a natural border with Mon State in the west forming parallel ranges to the northern end of the Tenasserim Hills further south and southeast. The Dawna Range extends east of the Salween southwards from the Shan Hills for about 350 km, at the western limit of the Thai highlands. Its southern end reaches the Thai-Myanmar border in the Umphang area, entering Thailand west of Kamphaeng Phet. The Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary is in the Thai side of the range. Kendra Lilly
Kendra Lilly (born June 18, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. She is a three-time Northern Ontario junior champion skip. She is also the former skip of the Laurentian University women's curling team. Career Lilly won the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Northern Ontario Junior Curling Championships. This qualified her for the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in each of those years. At the 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, she threw fourth rocks for skip Vanessa Maloney and finished with a 6–6 record.
