2012 Connecticut Elections
On November 6, 2012, the state of Connecticut held elections for presidential electors, representatives and senators to the U.S. Congress, as well as the members of the Connecticut State Senate. The general elections saw a total turnout of 73.89%. Primary elections were held on August 14 of the same year. United States President Connecticut selected the incumbent Democratic ticket of Barack Obama and Joe Biden. United States House of Representatives All five of the Connecticut seats to the House of Representatives were up for elections. The Democratic Party held on to all five seats. Connecticut
Connecticut () is the southernmost state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States. It is bordered by Rhode Island to the east, Massachusetts to the north, New York to the west, and Long Island Sound to the south. Its capital is Hartford and its most populous city is Bridgeport. Historically the state is part of New England as well as the tri-state area with New York and New Jersey. The state is named for the Connecticut River which approximately bisects the state. John Fonfara
John W. Fonfara (born December 1, 1955) is an American politician serving as a member of the Connecticut State Senate for the 1st district. Early life and education Fonfara was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut and attended Hartford Public Schools. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Arts in Public Policy from Trinity College. Gayle Slossberg
Gayle Slossberg (born May 14, 1965) is an American politician. A Democrat, Slossberg is a former seven term Connecticut State Senator having served between 2005 and 2019. A resident of Milford, Slossberg as senator represented the western suburbs of New Haven in the Connecticut Senate's 14th District, which includes the city of Milford, the town of Orange, the town of Woodbridge, and part of the city of West Haven. Danté Bartolomeo
Danté Jean Craig Bartolomeo (born 1969) is an American politician. Bartolomeo, a Democrat, began her political career as a member of the Meriden City Council from 2008 to 2012. Martin M. Looney (born July 23, 1948) is an American politician. Looney, a Democrat, has been a state senator from Connecticut since 1993. Toni Nathaniel Harp (born August 6, 1947) is an American politician who served as the 50th Mayor of New Haven, Connecticut. Harp, a Democrat, was previously a state senator in Connecticut from 1993 to 2013. Paul Robert Doyle (born April 30, 1963) is an American politician serving as a Democratic state senator from Connecticut since 2007.
