2005 Silverstone GP2 Series Round
The 2005 Silverstone GP2 Series round was a GP2 Series motor race held on 9 and 10 July 2005 at Silverstone Circuit, United Kingdom. It was the sixth round of the 2005 GP2 Series season. The race weekend supported the 2005 British Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg, who was the polesitter for race one, took his first GP2 feature race win, his second consecutive victory after also winning the sprint race at Magny-Cours. The feature race podium was completed by championship leader Heikki Kovalainen, of Arden International, and Rosberg's ART Grand Prix teammate Alexandre Prémat. Olivier Pla, who was on reverse grid pole after finishing eighth in the feature race, took his and DPR's first win of the season, ahead of iSport's Scott Speed and Kovalainen. Silverstone Circuit
Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Towcester, Silverstone and Whittlebury. It is the home of the British Grand Prix, which it first hosted as the 1948 British Grand Prix. The 1950 British Grand Prix at Silverstone was the first race in the newly created World Championship of Drivers. The race rotated between Silverstone, Aintree and Brands Hatch from 1955 to 1986, but settled permanently at the Silverstone track in 1987. The circuit also hosts the British round of the MotoGP series. On 30 September 2004, British Racing Drivers' Club president Jackie Stewart announced that the British Grand Prix would not be included on the 2005 provisional race calendar and, if it were, would probably not occur at Silverstone. 2005 Magny-Cours GP2 Series Round
The 2005 French GP2 round was a GP2 Series motor race held on 2 and 3 July 2005 at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in Magny-Cours, France. It was the fifth race of the 2005 GP2 Series season. The race was used to support the 2005 French Grand Prix. The first race was won by Heikki Kovalainen for Arden International, with José María López second for DAMS and Nicolas Lapierre finishing third for Arden. The second race was won by Nico Rosberg for ART Grand Prix, with Hiroki Yoshimoto for BCN Competición and Heikki Kovalainen for Arden also on the podium. Gianmaria "Gimmi" Bruni (born 30 May 1981) is an Italian Porsche factory auto racing driver who drove in the 2004 Formula One World Championship for Minardi. He is a GP2 Series race winner and is now racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, in which he gained the 2013 and 2014 GT Drivers' Titles whilst driving as a factory Ferrari driver. Durango Automotive SRL was an Italian auto racing team founded in 1980 by Ivone Pinton and Enrico Magro, which competed in Formula 3000, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the GP2 Series. The team finished racing after withdrawing from the Italian round of the 2009 GP2 Series season, although it was linked to Jacques Villeneuve and his bid to return to Formula One for the 2011 season. Clivio Piccione
Clivio Piccione (born February 24, 1984 in Monte Carlo, Monaco) is a Monégasque race car driver. He raced in the 2005 GP2 Series season for the Durango team and David Price Racing for 2006. Career Piccione's career started in karting in 1997, where he stayed until 2001 before moving up to British Formula Ford. He only spent one season there, debuting in British Formula 3's B-Class in 2002 for the T-Sport team. 2003 saw him move up to the main class with the Manor team, where he won the a race at Knockhill. Nicolas Lapierre
Nicolas Lapierre (born 2 April 1984) is a French professional racing driver. He raced with Toyota and with Alpine Racing in the past seasons of the FIA World Endurance Championship. He is a two-time winner of the 12 Hours of Sebring, with overall victories in 2011 and 2018, and scored four LMP2 class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. Giorgio Pantano
Giorgio Pantano (born 4 February 1979) is an Italian professional racing driver who drove for the Jordan Formula One team for much of the 2004 season before being replaced by Timo Glock. He also raced in Formula 3000. He retired from racing at the end of 2014. He raced in the GP2 Series from its inaugural year in 2005 until his championship campaign in 2008, holding the record for most races competed and most races won in the series. A dam is a barrier that stops or restricts the flow of surface water or underground streams. José María "Pechito" López (born 26 April 1983) is an Argentine race car driver who is currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing and 2014–2016 World Touring Car Champion. He raced in the 2006 GP2 Series for the Super Nova team, and previously for the DAMS team, and the CMS team in Formula 3000. He was also at Renault F1 as a test driver. Neel Jani (born 8 December 1983) is a Swiss professional Porsche factory driver. His father is from India and his mother is German Swiss. Super Nova Racing
Super Nova Racing was a British racing team that has competed in Formula 3000/ GP2 and the A1 Grand Prix series. Super Nova first entered racing in 1991. Super Nova was a new incarnation of the pre-existing David Sears Motorsport, sponsored by the Nova chain of Japanese English schools and also ran the Danish Den Blå Avis outfit.
