2002 WGC-World Cup
The 2002 WGC-World Cup took place 12–15 December at the Vista Vallarta Club de Golf, Nicklaus Course in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was the 48th World Cup and the third as a World Golf Championship event. 24 countries competed and each country sent two players. The prize money totaled $3,000,000 with $1,000,000 going to the winning pair. The Japanese team of Toshimitsu Izawa and Shigeki Maruyama won. They won by two strokes stroke over the American team of Phil Mickelson and David Toms. Qualification and format 18 teams qualified based on the Official World Golf Ranking and were joined by host country, Mexico, and five teams via qualifiers in Malaysia and Mexico. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with each team consisting of two players. The first and third days were fourball play and the second and final days were foursomes play. Paul Alexander Casey (born 21 July 1977) is an English golfer who is a member of LIV Golf. He has also played on the US-based PGA Tour and the European Tour. Søren Hansen
Søren Hansen (born 21 March 1974) is a Danish professional golfer. Hansen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He won the 1997 Danish Amateur Stroke Play Championship and turned professional later that year. Hansen collected his first professional win at the Challenge Tour's 1998 Navision Open Golf Championship in his home country. Since 1999 he has been a member of the European Tour where he has picked up two tournament victories. Anders Rosenberg Hansen (born 16 September 1970) is a semi-retired Danish professional golfer. Career Hansen was born in Sønderborg, Denmark. He turned professional in 1995. Jesús Amaya
Jesús Armando Amaya Contreras (born 24 August 1969) is a Colombian professional golfer. Amaya was born in Bogotá, and worked as a caddie at the Club Popular de Golf La Florida before turning professional in 1991. Michael Richard Weir, (born May 12, 1970) is a Canadian professional golfer. He currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions.
