Anders Hansen
Anders Rosenberg Hansen (born 16 September 1970) is a semi-retired Danish professional golfer. Career Hansen was born in Sønderborg, Denmark. He turned professional in 1995. It took him a few years to establish himself on the European Tour, with his first top 116 Order of Merit finish (the level a player requires to automatically regain his card) coming in 1999. His maiden European Tour victory was the 2002 Volvo PGA Championship and he finished in the top 60 on the Order of Merit every year from 2000 to 2012, with a best of seventh in 2011. He has featured in the top 25 of the Official World Golf Ranking and has been the highest ranked Danish golfer. Hansen represented Denmark in the WGC-World Cup in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Italian Open (golf)
The DS Automobiles Italian Open ( it, Open d'Italia) is the men's national open golf championship of Italy. It was founded in 1925 and, except for 1933 and during World War II, was played annually until 1960. After an eleven-year hiatus, it returned in 1971 when it was one of five tournaments in Continental Europe that were included on the British PGA Order of Merit circuit. The following year of that circuit has since been recognised as the first official season of the European Tour, and the Italian Open is one of few tournaments that have featured on the schedule every year. 2007 European Tour
The 2007 European Tour was the 36th golf season since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season began with six tournaments in late 2006 and consisted of record 52 official money events, surpassing the 2005 and 2006 seasons. This included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, which were also sanctioned by the PGA Tour. 29 events took place in Europe, 12 in Asia, six in the United States, three in South Africa, one in Australia and one in New Zealand. The PGA Tour's introduction of the FedEx Cup prompted the European Tour to extend the season into November and several tournaments moved away from their traditional dates. The Order of Merit race came down to the closing holes of the final tournament, and was won by Justin Rose for the first time despite the Englishman playing the majority of his golf in America. Eduardo Romero
Eduardo Alejandro Romero (17 July 1954 – 13 February 2022) was an Argentine professional golfer. Nicknamed "El Gato" ("The Cat"), he won over 80 professional tournaments around the world, including eight on the European Tour and five on the Champions Tour, with two senior majors; he also won over 50 times in South America and was a member of the Argentine team at the World Cup on 14 occasions. Colin Stuart Montgomerie, Order of the British Empire, OBE (born 23 June 1963) is a Scotland, Scottish professional golfer. He has won a record eight European Tour PGA European Tour#Order of Merit winners, Order of Merit titles, including a streak of seven consecutively from 1993 to 1999. He has won 31 European Tour events, the most of any British player, placing him fourth on the List of golfers with most European Tour wins, all-time list of golfers with most European Tour victories. 2002 European Tour
The 2002 European Tour was the 31st season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season was made up of 44 tournaments counting towards the Order of Merit, which included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, and several non-counting "Approved Special Events" including the Ryder Cup which had been postponed from 2001. The Order of Merit was won by Retief Goosen, defending the title he won in 2001. Changes for 2002 There were three new tournaments to the European Tour in 2002, the BMW Asian Open in Taiwan, the Omega Hong Kong Open and the ANZ Championship in Australia. Nick Watney
Nicholas Alan Watney (born April 25, 1981) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. The highlight of Watney's career is his victory at the 2011 WGC-Cadillac Championship. In July 2011, Watney won the AT&T National and broke into the top ten of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time. Early career Watney was born in Sacramento, California. He played his high school golf at Davis Senior High School in Davis, California. The WGC Championship was a professional golf tournament that was held between 1999 and 2021. It was one of the three or four annual World Golf Championships until the number of WGC events was reduced to two following the 2021 season. Under sponsorship agreements, the WGC Championship was titled as the WGC-American Express Championship (1999–2006), when it was hosted at various locations in Europe and the United States; the WGC-CA Championship (2007–2010), then the WGC-Cadillac Championship (2011–2016), when it was hosted at Doral Golf Resort, Florida; and the WGC-Mexico Championship (2017–2020), when it was played at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico. World Golf Championship
The World Golf Championships (WGC) are a group of annual professional golf tournaments created by the International Federation of PGA Tours as a means of gathering the best players in the world together more frequently than the pre-existing four major championships. All WGC tournaments are official money events on the PGA Tour and the European Tour, and officially sanctioned by the Asian Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Sunshine Tour, and PGA Tour of Australasia. The Vodacom Championship was an annual golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour. Andrew McLardy
Andrew Ronald McLardy (born 20 January 1974) is a South African professional golfer. McLardy was born in Triangle, Zimbabwe to Scottish parents. He had a successful amateur career, including representing South Africa twice in the Eisenhower Trophy, before turning professional in 1997. He joined the Southern Africa Tour, now the Sunshine Tour, where he has accumulated five wins. In 1998, McLardy qualified for the European Tour via qualifying school. He finished inside the top 100 on the Order of Merit in both his first two seasons, before he moved to the United States to try his hand at the PGA Tour. He finished tied for fifth at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament in December 2000, to earn a card for the 2001 season.
