The 6th FINA Short Course World Championships were held in Moscow, Russia Russia (, , ), or the Russian Federation, is a transcontinental country spanning Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. The event took place in the 25m-pool of the Olympiiski-complex, which also hosted the swimming event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. A record 599 swimmers from 92 countries competed at these championships, which resulted in seven world records. Grant Hackett
Grant George Hackett OAM (born 9 May 1980) is an Australian swimmer, most famous for winning the men's 1500 metres freestyle race at both the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. This achievement has led him to be regarded as one of the greatest distance swimmers in history. He also collected a gold medal in Sydney for swimming in the heats of the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. He was well regarded for his versatility, and has held the long course world records in the 200 m, 800 m, and 1500 m freestyle events. Leonid Khokhlov
Leonid Khokhlov (russian: Леонид Хохлов; born June 16, 1980) is a Russian former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He represented Russia at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and later earned a bronze medal in the freestyle relay at the 2002 FINA Short Course World Championships. Khokhlov competed only in the men's 4 × 100 m freestyle relay at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. On the first night of the Games, the Russians were disqualified from the championship final because of an early relay launch from Andrey Kapralov on the lead-off leg. Teaming with Kapralov, Denis Pimankov, and sport legend Alexander Popov on the morning prelims, Khokhlov swam a second leg and recorded a split of 51.02 to post a sixth-seeded time of 3:19.70 for the Russian squad. Lars Arne Frölander (born 26 May 1974) is a Swedish swimmer. He has competed in six consecutive Olympic Games (1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012). Biography Frölander was born in Boden. He grew up in Ornäs in Borlänge Municipality. In the 1992 Summer Olympics, he competed in the 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay along with Christer Wallin, Anders Holmertz and Tommy Werner. The Swedish team finished second behind the Unified Team. In the 1996 Summer Olympics, Frölander again finished second in the 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay with the Swedish team.
