1986 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 1986 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 14–17 October at Lagunita Country Club in Caracas, Venezuela. It was the 12th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 27 team entries, each with three players. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. The Spain team won the trophy, earning the title for the first time, beating team France by three strokes. France earned the silver medal while the United States team took the bronze at third place one more stroke back. Teams 27 teams entered the event and completed the competition. Kay Cockerill (born October 16, 1964 in San Jose, California) is an American golfer. Amateur and college career She won the U.S. Women's Amateurs in 1986 and 1987. Evelyn Orley
Evelyn Orley (born 10 July 1966) is a Swiss former professional golfer. Family Orley's grandfather Zoltan Őssy-Őlvy represented Hungary in the 1936 Summer Olympics in shooting, and her father Thomas Orley, born in Budapest, competed in fencing for the U.S. in the 1964 Summer Olympics. Her father later moved to Switzerland, where Evelyn was born. Sofia Grönberg-Whitmore (born 25 May 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer. She played on the Ladies European Tour (LET) between 1989 and 2001 and won three LET titles. In 1989 she also won a title on the Ladies Asian Golf Tour and its Order of Merit. Eva Ingeborg Dahllöf (born 4 July 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer who played 17 seasons on the LPGA Tour. Early life and amateur career Dahllöf started playing golf at the age of 9 with her father Kjell and mother Gun at Örnsköldsvik Golf Club in the province of Ångermanland in Sweden. At age 12, she won the 1977 Norrland Ladies' Championship (the championship representing the geographical northern half of Sweden) over 72 holes at her home course. Helen Christine Alfredsson (born 9 April 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer who played primarily on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and is also a life member of the Ladies European Tour. She won the LPGA major Nabisco Dinah Shore and twice finished second in the U.S. Women's Open. She also won the Women's British Open once and the Evian Masters three times before those events were designated as majors in women's golf by the LPGA Tour. Marnie McGuire
Marnie McGuire (born 22 February 1969) is a former New Zealand professional golfer who played mostly on the LPGA of Japan Tour. McGuire won the British Ladies Amateur in 1986 as a 17-year-old and was at the time the youngest champion in the tournament's history. She was also the individual winner of the 1991 Queen Sirikit Cup. She played college golf at Oklahoma State where she was an All-American in 1990. While at Oklahoma State, she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma which led her to compete wearing long-sleeved shirts, a big floppy hat, and long slacks. Michiko Hattori ( ja, 服部道子, born 8 September 1968) is a Japanese professional golfer and former Player of the Year on the LPGA of Japan Tour. Before turning professional, she became the first Japanese born champion of the U.S. Women's Amateur. Amateur career Hattori was among the most decorated amateur and collegiate golfers in history.
