Marnie McGuire
Marnie McGuire (born 22 February 1969) is a former New Zealand professional golfer who played mostly on the LPGA of Japan Tour. McGuire won the British Ladies Amateur in 1986 as a 17-year-old and was at the time the youngest champion in the tournament's history. She was also the individual winner of the 1991 Queen Sirikit Cup. She played college golf at Oklahoma State where she was an All-American in 1990. While at Oklahoma State, she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma which led her to compete wearing long-sleeved shirts, a big floppy hat, and long slacks. McGuire won five times as a professional on the Japan Tour and was awarded the Sportswoman of the Year title at the 1996 Halberg Awards. She is the only New Zealander to have won the Women's Australian Open, and the British Ladies Amateur. She also played on the LPGA Tour from 1999 to 2003. The Women's Australian Open is a women's professional golf tournament played in Australia, operated by Golf Australia and the WPGA Tour of Australasia, long co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). Sarah Elizabeth Ulmer (born 14 March 1976) is a former Olympic cyclist. She is the first New Zealander to win an Olympic cycling gold medal, which she won in the 3km individual pursuit at the 2004 Athens Olympics setting a world record. After the 2004 Olympics, she held the Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championship Pursuit titles, and the records for those events. Commonwealth Trophy
The Astor Trophy is a women's team golf tournament between teams of amateurs golfers from Great Britain and Ireland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. It has been played every four years since 1959. From its foundation until 2007 it was called the Commonwealth Trophy. South Africa did not compete from 1963 to 1991. While it was called the Commonwealth Trophy, Irish golfers were not eligible. The trophy was presented by Nancy Astor, Viscountess Astor. Format Each team plays the other four teams. 1986 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 1986 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 14–17 October at Lagunita Country Club in Caracas, Venezuela. It was the 12th women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 27 team entries, each with three players. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. The Spain team won the trophy, earning the title for the first time, beating team France by three strokes. France earned the silver medal while the United States team took the bronze at third place one more stroke back. Teams 27 teams entered the event and completed the competition.
