1948–51 Nordic Football Championship
The 1948–51 Nordic Football Championship was the fifth Nordic Football Championship staged. Four Nordic countries participated: Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Sweden won the tournament, its third Nordic Championship win. The tournament was arranged by the Danish Football Association and the trophy was named ''DBU's Vase''. The tournament had three occasions of a team playing two games on the same day, including two times for Sweden and one time for Denmark. Egon Jönsson
Egon Jönsson (8 October 1921 – 19 March 2000) was a Swedish footballer who played as a midfielder for Malmö FF and the Sweden national team. Club career Nicknamed "Todde den Hemlige," Jönsson played 405 matches for Malmö FF, winning four Allsvenskan titles. He played in 200 Allsvenskan games for Malmö and scored 99 goals. International career He was part of the Sweden squads that competed at the 1948 and 1952 Summer Olympics, as well as the 1950 FIFA World Cup, winning one gold medal and two bronze medals. He won a total of 22 caps, scoring 9 goals. Coaching career After his active career he was a youth coach and part of the coaching staff for Malmö FF during the European Cup final against Nottingham Forest in 1979. Kaj Christiansen
Kaj Frederik Christiansen (19 March 1921 – 14 January 2008) was a Danish football player and manager. He began his career as an amateur player for BK Frem, winning the 1944 Danish Championship. He played professionally for French clubs Stade Français, Le Havre AC, Olympique Lyonnais, and Grenoble Foot 38, winning the 1954 French Division 2 with Olympique Lyonnais. Kaj Christiansen scored six goals in five matches for the Denmark national football team between 1943 and 1948. He was named 1943 Danish Sports Talent of the Year. As a manager, he was named 1964 Manager of the Year in France, and won the 1967 Danish Cup with Randers Freja. Biography Kaj Christiansen started his amateur footballing career with KFUM's Boldklub, but like so many of his prolific KFUM teammates, he eventually moved to a larger Copenhagen club to make his national breakthrough. Börje Tapper
Börje Tapper (19 May 1922 – 8 April 1981) was a Swedish footballer who played as a midfielder for Malmö FF, Genoa, and the Sweden national team. He won four caps for Sweden and was a squad member at the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Career Tapper started his playing career at Håkanstorp before moving on to Malmö FF. He played for the club between 1939 and 1950, when he went to Italy and Genoa. He did not succeed in Italy and when he came home to Sweden, he was not allowed to play in Allsvenskan anymore due to the policy at the time. He is Malmö FF's second best goalscorer ever with 298 goals. He later coached Lunds BK. Taavi Aulis Rytkönen (5 January 1929 – 16 April 2014) was a Finnish footballer. He became the country's first professional player when he signed for France's Toulouse FC in 1952. In total Rytkönen spent eight seasons (1952–1960) in France, winning the French Cup in 1957. A forward, he started his career in Finland with KuPS Kuopio in 1945, and after returning from France he worked as player-coach of HJK Helsinki 1960–1966 and as coach 1967–1971. Kalevi Valdemar Lehtovirta (20 February 1928 – 10 January 2016) was a Finnish football striker who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics. Ullevaal Stadion () is an all-seater football stadium located in Oslo, Norway. It is the home ground of the Norway national football team, and the site of the Norwegian Cup Final. Ivan Eklind
Ivan Henning Hjalmar Eklind (October 15, 1905 – July 23, 1981) was a football referee from Sweden known for refereeing the 1934 FIFA World Cup Final between Italy and Czechoslovakia in Rome. He is the youngest referee, to this day, to officiate a FIFA World Cup final at the age of 28. Career Eklind officiated the 1934 FIFA World Cup semi-final Italy–Austria (1–0), as well as the final which Italy won 2–1 over Czechoslovakia. Afterwards he was heavily criticised for having favoured the Italian team with his decisions.
