1926 International Lawn Tennis Challenge
The 1926 International Lawn Tennis Challenge was the 21st edition of what is now known as the Davis Cup. 19 teams would enter the Europe Zone, while 5 would enter the America Zone. France defeated Japan in the Inter-Zonal play-off, but would fall to the United States in a rematch of 1925's Challenge Round. The final was played at the Germantown Cricket Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States on 9–11 September. Mount Royal Tennis Club
The Mount Royal Tennis Club has been the most-used venue for Canada hosting Davis Cup ties. It has been the country's most prominent grass court Davis Cup venue. The MRTC has played host to 28 Davis Cup ties between 1923 and 1964. All but the last of these ties was played on grass courts—the 1964 tie was played on clay. Vicente Banet
Vicente Banet was a Cuban tennis player. In the 1920s he featured in seven Davis Cup ties for Cuba, winning four singles rubbers. His wins came against Jack Wright (Canada), Gilbert Nunns (Canada), Ignacio De La Borbolla (Mexico) and Ricardo Tapia (Mexico). He was part of Cuba's first ever Davis Cup team, with the island one of five countries to debut in the 1924 International Lawn Tennis Challenge. Banet won two bronze medals for Cuba at the 1930 Central American and Caribbean Games.
