Martin Hammerich
Martin Johannes Hammerich (4 December 1811 – 20 September 1881) was a Danish art historian, educator, author and translator. He was part of the National Liberal movement and a member of the 1848 Danish Constituent Assembly. He was headmaster of Borgerdydskolerne from 1842 to 1867. Early life and education Hammerich was born in Copenhagen, the son of merchant Johannes Hammerich (1777–1852) and Meta Magdalena Adolph (1777–1823). He was the brother of theologian and historian Frederik Hammerich (1809–1877) and the father of engineer Holger Hammerich (1845–1915). He grew up in a wealthy home, graduating from Borgerdydskolerne in Christianshavn in 1828. He then enrolled at the University of Copenhagen where he won the 2nd prize for a paper on freedmen in Ancient Rome before graduating in theology in 1833. Emil Normann
Emil Wilhelm Normann (18 December 1798 – 21 June 1881) was a Danish painter and naval officer. Biography Normann, who initially developed his painting abilities through his own resources, became a student in Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg's private school in 1825. Despite numerous interruptions including two voyages to the West Indies in 1823 and 1830, Normann and Eckersberg kept in touch. Indeed, it was Normann's corvette that Eckersberg painted in 1827 and in 1834, as they were sailing around Zealand on the maiden voyage of the " Dronning Marie", the two went off in a rowing boat to paint the vessel in the Great Belt. Normann continued to study marine painting as a component of his education as an officer, learning to distinguish between the manoevres of the various types of ship. Christian IX Of Denmark
Christian IX (8 April 181829 January 1906) was King of Denmark from 1863 until his death in 1906. From 1863 to 1864, he was concurrently Duke of Schleswig, Holstein and Lauenburg. A younger son of Frederick William, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Christian grew up in the Duchy of Schleswig as a prince of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, a junior branch of the House of Oldenburg which had ruled Denmark since 1448. Although having close family ties to the Danish royal family, he was originally not in the immediate line of succession to the Danish throne. Following the early death of the father in 1831, Christian grew up in Denmark and was educated at the Military Academy of Copenhagen.
