Christian Winther
Rasmus Villads Christian Ferdinand Winther (29 July 1796 – 30 December 1876), was a Danish lyric poet. He was born at Fensmark near Næstved, where his father was the vicar. He went to the University of Copenhagen in 1815, and studied theology, taking his degree in 1824. He began to publish verse in 1819, but no collected volume appeared until 1828. Meanwhile, from 1824 to 1830, Winther was supporting himself as a tutor. A large inheritance from his uncle, Rasmus Winther, allowed him in 1830 to travel to Italy for a year. In 1835 a second volume of lyric poems appeared, and in 1838 a third. In 1841 King Christian VIII of Denmark appointed Winther to travel to Mecklenburg to instruct Princess Mariane, on the occasion of her betrothal to the Crown Prince of Denmark, in the Danish language. Juliana Maria of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel-Bevern (Danish: ''Juliane Marie''; 4 September 1729 – 10 October 1796) was Queen of Denmark and Norway from 1752 to 1766 as the second consort of King Frederick V of Denmark and Norway. She was mother to the prince-regent, Hereditary Prince Frederick of Denmark and Norway, and was herself de facto regent from 1772–1784. William Halling
William Halling (19 March 1744 - 12 April 1796), born Vitus Halling and after 1772 frequently referred to as Brigadér Halling, was a Danish nabob and landowner. He owned the Brigadér Halling House in Copenhagen and Dronninglund in Vendsyssel. Early life Halling was born in the rectory in Hårslev on Zealand, the son of the local vicar Mogens Halling and his wife Elisabeth Marie née Olivarius. The family came from the Halling Valley in Akershus, Norway. In 1859 he became an assistant in the Danish Asia Company in Copenhagen. Years in India He travelled to Tranquebar in 1760 and a few years later continued to College on the Malabar Coast. He was promoted to senior assistant (''overassistent'') but fell foul of opperhoved P. Scheel and returned to Tranquebar in 1766 from where he continued to Bengal to enroll in the British army. Caroline Amalie of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg (28 June 1796 – 9 March 1881) was Queen of Denmark as the second spouse of King Christian VIII between 1839 and 1848. Life Early life Caroline Amalie was the daughter of Frederick Christian II, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg, and Princess Louise Auguste of Denmark; Caroline Amalie's mother was the only daughter of Christian VII and his British wife, Queen Caroline Matilde, after whom she was named. She was born in Copenhagen and lived there until 1807, when she moved with her family to Augustenborg. She was given a conventional education for an upper class female of her time.
