Marie Cathrine Preisler
Marie Cathrine Preisler née Devegge (1761–1797), was a Danish stage actress. She was active at the Royal Danish Theatre in 1778-97, and a member of the ''Det Dramatiske Selskab'' in 1777-79. She is counted as among the elite of her profession, enjoyed great popularity and was famed for her heroine ''Soubrette A soubrette is a type of operatic soprano voice ''fach'', often cast as a female stock character in opera and theatre. Jacob Fortling
Jacob Fortling (23 December 1711 – 16 July 1761) was a German-Danish sculptor, architect and industrialist, described as one of the most industrious people in the Denmark of his day. He came to Denmark at age 18 and embarked on a successful career, first as a sculptor and later also as an architect. He was also engaged in the production of building materials, owning several quarries in Norway. Just outside Copenhagen, on Amager's east coast, he founded Kastrup Værk, a large industrial facility combining a lime plant, a brickyard and a pottery. Simon Carl Stanley
Simon Carl Stanley known in England as Charles Stanley (12 December 1703 – 17 February 1761) was a Danish sculptor of English parentage. Life He was born in Copenhagen on 12 December 1703 to English parents. As a boy he liked drawing and wood-carving, and around 1715 was apprenticed to J. C. Sturmberg. In his apprenticeship he created, amongst other things, two angels for Privy Krabbe's tomb at Roskilde Cathedral, and also helped with the stucco decorations at Fredensborg Palace. To learn more, he went abroad visiting several cities in Germany and then travelled to Amsterdam, where he sought training with Van Luchtern. In 1727 he travelled to England and while in London worked for sculptors Laurent Delvaux from Ghent and Peter Scheemakers from Antwerp, the latter of which had also heard of Sturmberg's pupils. Frederick V Of Denmark
Frederick V (Danish and Norwegian: ''Frederik V''; 31 March 1723 – 14 January 1766) was King of Denmark–Norway and Duke of Schleswig-Holstein from 6 August 1746 until his death in 1766. He was the son of Christian VI of Denmark and Sophie Magdalene of Brandenburg-Kulmbach. Although the personal influence of Frederick was limited, his reign was marked by the progress of commerce and trade, and art and science prospered under his reign. Unlike his parents who were deeply devoted to Pietism, Frederick grew into a hedonist. As regent, he took part in the conduct of government by attending council meetings, but he was afflicted by alcoholism and most of his rule was dominated by able ministers who were influenced by the ideas of the Age of Enlightenment. Johan Jacob Bruun
Johan Jacob Bruun (30 November 1715 – 4 January 1789) was a Danish painter. Often working in gouaches, he is most known for his topographic prospects which herald the development of a Danish landscape painting. Biography He was born in Slagelse in 1715. He started in an apprenticeship under the painter Johan Herman Coning and taught miniature painting. Between 1737 and 1769 he executed more than 1,000 gouaches, watercolours and touch drawings depicting towns, castles and other motives. He assisted with Lauritz de Thurah's ''Hafnia Hodierna'' (1746) and '' Den Danske Vitruvius'' (1746–49). When his contributions were not included in Frederick V's Atlas, he received permission and economic support to publish them in ''Novus Atlas Daniæ'' of which only one volume appeared.
