Thomas Kingo
Thomas Hansen Kingo (15 December 1634 – 14 October 1703 Odense) was a Danish bishop, poet and hymn-writer born at Slangerup, near Copenhagen. His work marked the high point of Danish baroque poetry. His father was a weaver of modest means; the name ''Kingo'' is a shortening of the Scottish name "Kinghorn". In his youth, Kingo wrote a series of poems picturing humorous scenes in village life and a pastoral love poem, ''Chrysillis''. He studied theology at the University of Copenhagen, graduating in 1654, and for some time acted as private tutor. In 1661 he was appointed vicar to the pastor at Kirke Helsinge, and in 1668 he was ordained a minister at his native town, where his poetic activity began. At first he essayed patriotic poems, but later devoted himself almost entirely to writing hymns, and in 1674 the first part of his ''Aandelige Siunge-Koor'' ("Spiritual Song Choir") appeared; followed in 1681 by a second part. Christian Gyldenløve
Christian Gyldenløve, Count of Samsøe (Copenhagen, 28 February 1674 – Odense, 16 July 1703), was a Danish nobleman and military officer. He was one of five illegitimate children fathered by Christian V of Denmark with Sophie Amalie Moth. He distinguished himself in both foreign and Danish-Norwegian military service and established himself as the Danish Count ''Danneskiold-Samsøe,'' which descended from his second marriage. In Copenhagen on 27 November 1696 Christian married firstly his second cousin Countess Charlotte Amalie Danneskiold-Laurvig (15 November 1682 – 7 December 1699), a daughter of Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve. Christen Lindencrone
Christen Lindencrone (24 December 1703 - 17 August 1772) was a Danish landowner and supercargo of the Danish Asia Company. He owned Gjorslev Manor on Stevns and constructed the Lindencrone Mansion (''Lindencrones Palæ'') on Bredgade in Copenhagen. He was ennobled in 1757 with the surname Lindencrone. Biography He was born Christian Jensen Lintrup on 24 December 1703 in the village of Løgstør in Vesthimmerland, Denmark. His parents were Jens Christensen Lendrup (ca. 1668-1716) and Anne Povelsdatter. He participated as a 2nd assistant on the ship '' Cron Printz Christian'' on Danish Asiatic Company's first voyage to China in 1730. By 1738 he had been promoted to 1st supercargo with responsibility of loading and purchase of goods. He had become a wealthy man by the time he completed his fifth voyage to China in 1740-42. Simon Carl Stanley
Simon Carl Stanley known in England as Charles Stanley (12 December 1703 – 17 February 1761) was a Danish sculptor of English parentage. Life He was born in Copenhagen on 12 December 1703 to English parents. As a boy he liked drawing and wood-carving, and around 1715 was apprenticed to J. C. Sturmberg. In his apprenticeship he created, amongst other things, two angels for Privy Krabbe's tomb at Roskilde Cathedral, and also helped with the stucco decorations at Fredensborg Palace. To learn more, he went abroad visiting several cities in Germany and then travelled to Amsterdam, where he sought training with Van Luchtern. In 1727 he travelled to England and while in London worked for sculptors Laurent Delvaux from Ghent and Peter Scheemakers from Antwerp, the latter of which had also heard of Sturmberg's pupils. Frederick IV (Danish: ''Frederik''; 11 October 1671 – 12 October 1730) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1699 until his death. Frederick was the son of Christian V of Denmark-Norway and his wife Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel.
