Brisbane Blaze, along with six other teams, was founded on 17 April 2019 as part of

's development of hockey. The team's logo and colours are inspired by the new team name, 'Blaze', which is an adaption of
Queensland ) , nickname = Sunshine State , image_map = Queensland in Australia.svg , map_caption = Location of Queensland in Australia , subdivision_type = Country , subdivision_name = Australia , established_title = Before federation , established_ ...
's former representative women's team the Scorchers. The new colours are burnt orange and yellow.
