Hockey One
The Sultana Bran Hockey One is a field hockey competition organised by Hockey Australia, which replaced the Australian Hockey League. The competition serves as Australia's premier domestic hockey league, helping unearth future talent for selection to the Australian national teams; the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos. NSW Pride are currently the most successful team with three out of four titles, with both the men's and women's sides winning the 2022 titles. History The Sultana Bran Hockey One was founded on 17 April 2019. The tournament was formed following an overhaul of the Australian Hockey League, and replaced the tournament to serve as Australia's premier hockey competition. Following a series of rule innovations during the 2018 men's and women's AHL tournaments, Hockey Australia made the decision to disband the premier competition, making way for the new domestic league. 2022 Men's Hockey One
The 2022 Men's Sultana Bran Hockey One was the second season of Hockey Australia's national league, ''Hockey One''. The tournament was held across 7 states and territories of Australia. Competition commenced on 29 September, and culminated with a finals weekend running from 19 to 20 November. Unlike the previous edition where the top ranked women's team hosted the grand final, the grand final of the tournament will be held at a neutral venue in Bendigo. Competition format Format The 2022 Hockey One season will follow same format as season one. Teams will play a series of home and away matches during the Pool Stage, which will be followed by a Classification Round. During the pool stage, teams play each other once in either a home or a way fixture. The 2019 Men's Sultana Bran Hockey One was the inaugural men's edition of Hockey Australia's national league, ''Hockey One''. The tournament was held across 7 states and territories of Australia. The tournament started on 29 September and culminated on 16 November 2019. The grand final of the tournament was hosted by HC Melbourne, as the top ranked team to qualify for the final in the women's league. NSW Pride won the tournament after defeating Brisbane Blaze 8–3 in the final. Tassie Tigers finished in bronze position, following results from the pool stage. Tassie Tigers is an Australia, Australian field hockey club based in Hobart, Tasmania. The club joined the Australian Hockey League in 1992 as a men's team. In 2019, the Tassie Tigers expanded to encompass both Tasmanian men's and women's teams, Tassie Van Demons, as one of 7 clubs to compete in Hockey Australia's new premier domestic competition, Hockey One.
