Fürth (; East Franconian German, East Franconian: ; ) is a List of cities and towns in Germany, city in northern Bavaria, Germany, in the administrative division (''Regierungsbezirk'') of Middle Franconia. Fürth is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the cities of Fürth and Nuremberg, and by the districts of Roth, Ansbach, Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim and Erlangen-Höchstadt. History In the 13th and most of the 14th century the region was a regional centre of the Hohenzollern state. The Cadolzburg (a castle west of Nuremberg) was the seat of the local rulers. The present district was established in 1972. In 2003 the administrative seat was moved from Fürth to Zirndorf. (Nonetheless, Fürth remains the official capital of the district.) Fürth is an electoral constituency (German: ''Wahlkreis'') represented in the Bundestag. It elects one member via first-past-the-post voting. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 242. It is located in northwestern Bavaria, comprising the city of Fürth and the districts of Landkreis Fürth and Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim. Fürth was created for the 1965 federal election. Fürth is a municipality and a state-recognized recreational resort (''Erholungsort'') in the Bergstraße district in Hesse, Germany. Geography Location The community lies in the UNESCO ''Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald'' on the Weschnitz, a small river that empties into Rhine near Biblis. Fürth is the northernmost and highest community in the Weschnitz valley, which stretches southwestwards to Weinheim. Gloggnitz is a mountain town in the Neunkirchen (Austrian district), Neunkirchen district of Lower Austria, Austria. Gloggnitz is situated in the south-western part of the Viennese Basin, Vienna Basin in Lower Austria. It is surrounded by the highest mountains in Lower Austria, Mount Rax (2007m / 6585 ft) and Mount Schneeberg (Alps), Schneeberg (2076m / 6811 ft). Furths are defined as mountains that meet the classification criteria to be a Scottish Munro, including being over in elevation, but which are ''furth'' of (i.e. "outside" of) Scotland. Furth im Wald (in Czech ''Brod nad Lesy'', resp. ''Bavorský Brod'') is a town in Bavaria, Germany, near the Czech Republic, Czech border in the Bavarian Forest, northeast of Cham, Germany, Cham, and southwest of Domažlice. The city is known as ''Drachenstadt'' (Dragon City), a reference to Furth im Wald's annual ''Drachenstich'' (Slaying of the Dragon) play. The ''Drachenstich'', originally part of a Corpus Christi procession, was first mentioned in 1590. As one of the oldest folk plays in the German language, each year actors re-enact the legend of Saint George slaying the dragon.
