William Émard
William Émard (born 17 March 2000) is a Canadian artistic gymnast. He represented Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games. At the 2021 World Championships, he finished eighth in the all-around final, marking the best result for a Canadian male gymnast in World Championship history. Senior career 2018 Émard joined the senior Canadian national team in 2018. However, his early career was met with adversity in injury form. At the 2018 Pacific Rim Championships he injured himself during warm up and then spent several months in recovery for a knee injury and a labrum tear in the shoulder. 2019–2020 Émard competed at the Paris Challenge Cup in September where he qualified to the event finals on floor exercise, rings, and vault. The following month he competed at the 2019 World Championships where he helped Canada finish 17th as a team during qualifications. Gymnastics At The 2024 Summer Olympics
Gymnastics competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris were contested in three categories: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. The artistic (27 July to 5 August) and trampoline (2 August) events occurred at the Accor Arena (referred to as the Bercy Arena due to IOC sponsorship rules), with the rhythmic events staged at Adidas Arena, Porte de La Chapelle Arena from 8 to 10 August. This article describes the qualifying phase for gymnastics at the 2024 Summer Olympics. A total of 318 gymnasts (192 in artistic, 94 in rhythmic and 32 in trampoline) will qualify. The qualification pathway for the 2024 Summer Olympics is significantly simplified and modified from those in 2020. 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held in Antwerp, Belgium at the Sportpaleis, from 30 September to 8 October 2023. Antwerp hosted the event for the third time; previously the city hosted the first ever World Championships in 1903 and again in 2013. The championships was a qualification event for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The top nine teams in both the men's and women's team qualifications (not including teams that qualified at the previous year's World Championships) obtained five quota places for Paris as a team. Additionally, numerous individuals qualified with a nominative berth for the Olympic Games. The 2021 FIG World Cup circuit in Artistic Gymnastics is a series of competitions officially organized and promoted by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) in 2021.
