Webster Parish
Webster Parish ( French: ''Paroisse de Webster'') is a parish located in the northwestern section of the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish seat and largest city is Minden. As of the 2020 census, the Webster Parish population was 36,967. Public officials who have long sought to increase the industrial potential of the parish, expressed concern over the decline. Jim Bonsall, the president of the Webster Parish Police Jury, the parish governing body, cited the ending of the Haynesville Shale boom as the primary reason for the population losses. The parish has long depended on jobs in the petroleum and natural gas fields. The parish is named for 19th-century American statesman Daniel Webster of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The U.S. state of Louisiana is divided into 64 parishes (; ), making it the only state besides Alaska to call its primary subdivisions something other than "counties." Interstate 20 In Louisiana
Interstate 20 (I-20) is a part of the Interstate Highway System that spans from Reeves County, Texas, to Florence, South Carolina. Within the state of Louisiana, the highway travels from the Texas state line west of Greenwood to the Mississippi River, which it crosses into Vicksburg, Mississippi. I-20 traverses the northern portion of the state, serving the metropolitan areas of Shreveport– Bossier City and Monroe, as well as the smaller cities of Minden and Ruston. Claiborne Parish, Louisiana
Claiborne Parish () is a parish located in the northwestern section of the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish was formed in 1828, and was named for the first Louisiana governor, William C. C. Claiborne. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,170. The parish seat is Homer. History John Murrell moved his family from Arkansas to the Flat Lick Bayou area about 6 miles west of present-day Homer in 1818, and they became the first known non-natives to permanently settle in Claiborne Parish. As more settlers moved into the area, the Murrell house served as a church, school and post office. When the state legislature created Claiborne Parish out of Natchitoches Parish in 1828, all governmental business, including court, began being held in the Murrell house.
