Vysoká (Little Carpathians)
Vysoká is the second-highest mountain in the Little Carpathians mountains, part of the Carpathians mountain range, located in the municipality of Kuchyňa in Slovakia. The mountain is part of the Vysoká Nature Reserve. The AMSL high peak offers views of the surrounding Little Carpathians' relief, Tribeč mountains, Považský Inovec and Podunajská pahorkatina. On a fine day, it offers views of extended parts of landscape with even the Austrian Alps being clearly visible. Description The mountain offers numerous gorges, streams, meadows and rocky faces. The surrounding woods feature several small caves. In the past, limestone was mined underneath the mountain and transported to a nearby factory. The woods are rich in fauna, notably the mouflon. The mountain is located within the Vysoká Nature Reserve, a protected area with the highest, fifth degree of protection. Kuchyňa
Kuchyňa () is a municipality in the Malacky District in the Bratislava Region of western Slovakia close to the town of Malacky, north-west of Slovakia's capital Bratislava. Nearby castle ruins of Kuchyňa Castle bear the name of the municipality. Malacky Air Base, The Kuchyňa airbase, often used by the US Air Force for training purposes, is located approximately 18 kilometers east of the city of Malacky. Mouflon
The mouflon (''Ovis gmelini'') is a wild sheep native to Cyprus, and the Caspian region, including eastern Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Iran. It is also found in parts of Europe. It is thought to be the ancestor of all modern domestic sheep breeds. Taxonomy ''Ovis gmelini'' was the scientific name proposed by Edward Blyth in 1841 for wild sheep in the Middle East. In the 19th and 20th centuries, several wild sheep were described that are considered mouflon subspecies today: * ''Ovis ophion'' by Blyth in 1841 for wild sheep in Cyprus; * ''Ovis laristanica'' by Nikolai Nasonov in 1909 for wild sheep in Lar in southern Iran; * ''Ovis orientalis isphahanica'' by Nasonov in 1910 for wild sheep in the Zagros Mountains.
