Ultraísta Albums
Ultraísta is an English-American experimental rock trio, formed in 2008. The band consists of Atoms for Peace members Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker, alongside Laura Bettinson. The band's self-titled debut album was released on 2 October 2012. The band's biography notes that it was "conceived from a love of afrobeat, electronica, art and inspired by tequila". History Initially a collaboration between Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker, Ultraísta became a three-piece with the addition of Laura Bettinson in 2010. The band's name is taken from the Spanish literary movement ultraism. The band released their first album in 2012, followed by a remix album. In 2019, the band announced via social media that it would be returning, releasing a deluxe edition of their self-titled debut on 22 November. ''Sister'' is the second studio album by British experimental rock trio Ultraísta. It was released on 13 March 2020 under Partisan Records. It was released immediately prior to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the album's promotional roll-out, touring, and subsequent interviews being affected. Release The first single "Tin King" was released on 14 January 2020, with two more singles "Anybody" and "Harmony" following in the coming months. "Ordinary Boy" was released as a single in September of 2020 along with a remix EP following on 6 November. Ultraist Movement
The Ultraist movement () was a literary movement born in Spain in 1918, with the declared intention of opposing Modernismo, which had dominated Spanish poetry since the end of the 19th century. The movement was launched in the tertulias of Madrid's ''Café Colonial'', presided by Rafael Cansinos Assens. The Ultraist core was formed, among others, by Guillermo de Torre, Juan Larrea, Gerardo Diego and the Argentine Jorge Luis Borges, who lived in Madrid at the time. The first manifesto of the group was published in the Seville-based literary magazine '' Grecia'' in 1919. ''Ultraísta'' is the eponymous debut studio album by British experimental rock band Ultraísta. It was released 2 October 2012 by Temporary Residence Limited. The first single, "Smalltalk", was released 9 May 2012. Following the release of the album, touring from the band was cut short after drummer Joey Waronker had his first child. This same touring issue would occur when the promotion for the band's sophomore album would be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. On 22 November 2019, a deluxe version of the album was released. It includes all the remixes of songs from the album that had been released in 2013, featuring remixes from Zero 7, David Lynch, CHVRCHES, Four Tet, among others. Laura Bettinson
Laura Bettinson (born 20 September 1987), also known by her stage names Femme and Lau.ra, is an English singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. She started writing music at 16, gigging around the Midlands area before moving to London to study Bmus Popular Music at Goldsmiths, University of London. History Bettinson grew up in Dunchurch just outside Rugby, Warwickshire, where she attended Rugby High School for Girls. Her father is the West End theatre director and writer Rob Bettinson and her brother is shipping magnate Scott Bettinson.
