Sequence (board Game)
Sequence is an Abstract strategy game, abstract strategy tabletop party game. ''Sequence'' was invented by Douglas Reuter. They originally called the game ''Sequence Five''. He spent years developing the concept, and, in June 1981, granted Jax Ltd. an exclusive license to manufacture, distribute and sell the board game ''Sequence'' and its subsequent variations. The game was first sold in a retail store in 1982. In 2017, Goliath Game Company bought Jax, and in early 2018 also bought all licensor rights and now owns 100% of the game ''Sequence''. Doug Reuter is acknowledged as the inventor of ''Sequence'' on all newly produced copies of the game - both on the box and in the printed rules. Sequence Card Game
In mathematics, a sequence is an enumerated collection of mathematical object, objects in which repetitions are allowed and order theory, order matters. Like a Set (mathematics), set, it contains Element (mathematics), members (also called ''elements'', or ''terms''). The number of elements (possibly infinite number, infinite) is called the ''length'' of the sequence. Unlike a set, the same elements can appear multiple times at different positions in a sequence, and unlike a set, the order does matter. Formally, a sequence can be defined as a function (mathematics), function from natural numbers (the positions of elements in the sequence) to the elements at each position. Abstract Strategy Game
An abstract strategy game is a type of strategy game that has minimal or no narrative theme, an outcome determined only by player choice (with minimal or no randomness), and in which each player has perfect information about the game. For example, Go is a pure abstract strategy game since it fulfills all three criteria; chess and related games are nearly so but feature a recognizable theme of ancient warfare; and Stratego is borderline since it is deterministic, loosely based on 19th-century Napoleonic warfare, and features concealed information. Definition Combinatorial games have no randomizers such as dice, no simultaneous movement, nor hidden information. Douglas Reuter
Doug Reuter (born March 17, 1949) is an American politician and board game inventor in the state of Minnesota. He served in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Reuter grew up in the Twin Cities. His family lived in Eden Prairie, Minnesota for 18 years where he ran unsuccessfully for city council and mayor. His family eventually moved to Owatonna which is where he was elected as a representative. Reuter served in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his election, he served as a lobbyist for a waste management firm that sought to encourage recycling and composting instead of landfills and mass incineration.
