Seacombe Heights, South Australia
Seacombe Heights is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. It gets its name from Seacombe on the Wirral Cheshire, where many settlers emigrated from. Area highlights include the Seacombe Heights Tennis Club on Grafton Street, where courts can be hired by the public. Seaview High School is located on a large land parcel within Seacombe Heights and features a large irrigated oval, popular with locals outside of school hours. Many Seacombe Heights locals enjoy nature walks in the O'Halloran Hill Conservation park. Electoral District Of Black
Black is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election. Black is named after Dorrit Black (Dorothea Foster Black, 1891–1951), a South Australian modern artist, best known for linocuts, oil and watercolour paintings. Black lies south-west of the Adelaide city centre and includes the suburbs of Darlington, Hallett Cove, Kingston Park, Marino, O'Halloran Hill, Seacliff, Seacliff Park, Seacombe Heights, Seaview Downs, Sheidow Park and Trott Park. At its creation, Black was projected to be notionally held by the Liberal Party with a swing of 2.6% required to lose it. Dover Gardens, South Australia
Dover Gardens is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, in the City of Marion. History Settlement of the area dates from the mid-1800s, with land used mainly for farming, orchards and vineyards. Some growth took place from the late 1800s into the 1920s. Substantial development did not occur until after the Second World War, with rapid growth during the 1950s and 1960s. The population fluctuated slightly between 1991 and 2006, due to small changes in dwelling stock and the average number of persons living in each dwelling. The population increased between 2006 and 2011 as new dwellings were added to the area, particularly medium density housing. Sturt is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion local government area. It was named after the explorer Captain Charles Sturt. Sturt is in the South Australian House of Assembly electoral district of Gibson and the Australian House of Representatives Division of Boothby. Darlington, South Australia
Darlington is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia part of which is in the City of Onkaparinga and the City of Marion. For many years, Darlington was the southern entrance to Adelaide's urban area on Main South Road. It hosted many service stations of different brands. It represents the convergence of Flagstaff Road to Main South Road from the south, with Seacombe Road to the west, Diagonal Road to the northwest and Marion Road to the north with South Road continuing northeast. Seacombe
Seacombe () is a district of the town of Wallasey, on the Wirral Peninsula, England. Administratively, Seacombe is a ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral in Merseyside. Before local government reorganisation on 1 April 1974, it was part of the County Borough of Wallasey, within the geographical county of Cheshire. At the 2001 Census, the population of Seacombe was 15,158, (7,081 males and 8,077 females), increasing to 15,387 (7,554 males, 7,833 females) at the Census 2011. History Seacombe is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Seccum. In 1845 George Turnbull was the civil engineer who designed and built the Seacombe Wall sea defence that helped drain the marshes behind the town. Seacombe was originally a terminus for the Wirral Railway; however, passenger services ended on 4 January 1960 and all services on the line terminated on 16 June 1963.
