Dover Gardens, South Australia
Dover Gardens is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, in the City of Marion. History Settlement of the area dates from the mid-1800s, with land used mainly for farming, orchards and vineyards. Some growth took place from the late 1800s into the 1920s. Substantial development did not occur until after the Second World War, with rapid growth during the 1950s and 1960s. The population fluctuated slightly between 1991 and 2006, due to small changes in dwelling stock and the average number of persons living in each dwelling. The population increased between 2006 and 2011 as new dwellings were added to the area, particularly medium density housing. Brighton is a coastal suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, situated between Seacliff, South Australia, Seacliff and Glenelg, South Australia, Glenelg and aside Holdfast Bay. Warradale is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. The name Warradale derives from ''Warripari'', an Aboriginal (Kaurna) word for windy place by the (Sturt) River. The suburb is located in the south western part of Adelaide, approximately 12 kilometres from the CBD, and is serviced by the Seaford-Tonsley train line and several main roads. History When three residents of Oaklands applied for a post office in January 1917, the postal authorities pointed out that the use of the name Oaklands was likely to be confused with both Oaklands on Yorke Peninsula and in New South Wales. Oaklands Park is a southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Marion. The Marion Shopping Centre is a major feature of the suburb. History On 14 December 1906, Oaklands was bought by Thomas Currie Tait for £15,000. In 1923 Tait offered 'The Park' (from the corner of Marion and Oaklands Roads to the homestead) to the South Australian Government for £100 an acre. When the offer was not accepted, Hamiltons acquired the vineyard and in September 1923, W. Pethick " Sons, vignerons and orchardists, bought the homestead. The remaining land, about , was secured by T.M. Burke Pty Ltd, for £23,000, for building allotments. The portion of Oaklands which became the site of the Warradale Army Camp in both World Wars, was acquired from the State on 26 July 1945 for £24,020. Seacliff Park is a suburb of Adelaide partly in the City of Marion and the City of Holdfast Bay. The suburb is adjacent to South Brighton in the north, Seaview Downs to the east, Hallett Cove to the south, and Marino and Seacliff on the west.
