Warradale is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. The name Warradale derives from ''Warripari'', an Aboriginal (Kaurna) word for windy place by the (Sturt) River. The suburb is located in the south western part of Adelaide, approximately 12 kilometres from the CBD, and is serviced by the Seaford-Tonsley train line and several main roads. History When three residents of Oaklands applied for a post office in January 1917, the postal authorities pointed out that the use of the name Oaklands was likely to be confused with both Oaklands on Yorke Peninsula and in New South Wales. The name Warradale was then submitted by local residents and accepted by the PMG Department, (but not so agreeably by the council). Oaklands Park, South Australia
Oaklands Park is a southern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Marion. The Marion Shopping Centre is a major feature of the suburb. History On 14 December 1906, Oaklands was bought by Thomas Currie Tait for £15,000. In 1923 Tait offered 'The Park' (from the corner of Marion and Oaklands Roads to the homestead) to the South Australian Government for £100 an acre. When the offer was not accepted, Hamiltons acquired the vineyard and in September 1923, W. Pethick " Sons, vignerons and orchardists, bought the homestead. The remaining land, about , was secured by T.M. Burke Pty Ltd, for £23,000, for building allotments. The portion of Oaklands which became the site of the Warradale Army Camp in both World Wars, was acquired from the State on 26 July 1945 for £24,020. Westfield Marion (colloquially known as simply "Marion") is the largest mall in Adelaide, South Australia, located in Oaklands Park, serving greater Southern Adelaide. It contains approximately 342 stores, with anchor tenants including David Jones, Myer, Harris Scarfe, Target, Kmart, Big W, Woolworths, Coles, Event Cinemas, Aldi and Rebel Sport. Marion is a suburb in the City of Marion, around south-west of the city centre of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. Founded as a rural village in 1838 on the banks of the Sturt River, Marion was found to have rich soil and the population expanded rapidly. Colonel William Light laid out the plan for the village, as he had done with the City of Adelaide itself. Marion is bordered on the north by Oaklands Road, on the east by Marion Road, on the south by Sturt Road and on the west by a roughly straight line from Finniss Street in the south to The Parade. Dover Gardens, South Australia
Dover Gardens is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, in the City of Marion. History Settlement of the area dates from the mid-1800s, with land used mainly for farming, orchards and vineyards. Some growth took place from the late 1800s into the 1920s. Substantial development did not occur until after the Second World War, with rapid growth during the 1950s and 1960s. The population fluctuated slightly between 1991 and 2006, due to small changes in dwelling stock and the average number of persons living in each dwelling. The population increased between 2006 and 2011 as new dwellings were added to the area, particularly medium density housing. Seacombe Heights is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Marion. It gets its name from Seacombe on the Wirral Cheshire, where many settlers emigrated from. Darlington, South Australia
Darlington is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia part of which is in the City of Onkaparinga and the City of Marion. For many years, Darlington was the southern entrance to Adelaide's urban area on Main South Road. It hosted many service stations of different brands. It represents the convergence of Flagstaff Road to Main South Road from the south, with Seacombe Road to the west, Diagonal Road to the northwest and Marion Road to the north with South Road continuing northeast.
